Precana timeline

Is there a time limit (?) for precana? I wanted to take it as soon as possible, but my wedding is about a year away. I remember them saying to take it a couple of months before the wedding date. Can someone fill me in?

in my church, you can take pre cana about 6 months before the wedding. we just started this past sunday.

I'm also Oct '05 and we were originally scheduled to take it this past sept but due to our circumstances had to reschedule for April '05. I guess it depends on the church.

Re: Precana timeline

I think that you can take it now if you wanted to. Call the church (or priest) and find out when their sessions are. Not every Church have them and not every Church that does have them through out the year, maybe just one in the fall and one in the spring. Some are in people's homes, some in the Church basement or school and some are weekend retreat type of things while others are 2 hours a night, for 3 weeks (once a week that is).

If the Church you are getting married at is too far from you (or you are getting married by a priest outside of a Church), you can ask to take it closer to you but you may need permission from either your church or your priest. Definitely call the Church or priest to find out your best options.

Re: Precana timeline

We are planning on doing it soon. We just met with the priest less than 2 weeks ago and he told us to do it as soon as possible. He said that with all of the planning and things to do in the last few months it will be easier for us if pre-Cana was done and out of the way.

He didn't even make our next appointment...he said to call him when we are done with pre-Cana and then we will meet again.

Good luck!
