if there is a faint pink line the next day when I went to throw it out, what does that mean.

It sounds like it is detecting hormones. Take another one this morning -= see what you get. Let us know.

the instructions on the box tell you not to take a reading after a certain amount of time. When you initally took the test was there a line???

Make sure you read the instructions that come with the test regarding the timing of the test. If it is after the elapsed time you could get a second line, but it would not be indicative of a positive result
