Pregnancy Rash - help needed

Pregnancy Rash - help needed

A coworker has a pregancy rash that is itching her like crazy. I feel badly for her....The doc says its hormonal and will stop as soon as she gives birth (EDD is Sept). He has given her a steroid to help but it hasn't made much of a difference)

Is there anything that she can do?

I dont have any advice on the rash but I thought YOU were PG from the subject line

What about something topical like Benedryl cream? Make sure she checks with her doc first though.

first answer usually is to ask her dr
I had PUPPS which is the preg itch disorder. got it on my legs & feet.
i tried hydrocortesone.,did not work for me.
ICE PACKS numb the area so that DID work for me....I actually SLEPT with ice packs on my feet.

I also slept with cotton gloves on so I would wake up whenever I tried to scratch.

I'm not sure if this would apply. But my mother had a terrible rash from somekind of allergic reaction. They never found out what it was, but she used to use skim milk to help with the itch. It couldn't hurt to try???

Thanks ladies!

She did see the doctor and he gave her a script for a steriod. He told her it was completely hormonal and that it would go away right after she delivered. The dr says there's really nothing she can do...except take the steriods (which aren't helping) and wait.

Some people have told her that the rash is b/c she is having a girl (b/c of all our extra hormones ) - LOL. She doesn't want to know the sex yet....

Thanks for the tip on the gloves, Phyl. I asked her if it was like Chicken Pox and also suggested gloves..and maybe calamine lotion.

I was hoping there was another answer out there - somewhere - and I knew if there WAS, you ladies would know!

Thanks for the replies!

the gloves although a pain..really did help. I would scratch in my SLEEP!

and as far as gender guessing goes...well 'I' had a girl!
