So one of my bridesmaids called .... she's pregnant. (which is fabulous....don't get me wrong!) I haven't chosen a BM dress yet...now what do I do? She will be 8 months along on the wedding day.
Do I go with original plans? Do I have to order the other BM dresses and the maternity dresses from the same designer? If so that seems to suddenly limit my options. Any suggestions on a good place to start. Thank you SO much!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
My friends wedding I was a BM at and one of the girls was thinking she may have been pregnant at the time so we inquired. (turns out she wasn't) but the lady in the store said they would be able to order a two piece dress in a larger size that could be adjusted as it got closer. I'm not sure how reliable this is, but its something to ask around about.

I had a pregnant bridesmaid she got her dress altered to fit her and we took pictures to hide her belly. I even got her a bigger bo-q and it worked out fine..

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
Go ahead with any BM dresses you like and the pregnant BM can get the dress in a larger size and get it fitted to her closer to the day. I had a baby , I wasn't a BM at the time but I had to get dresses for 3 major events. All my dresses were regular dresses in larger sizes (non maternity). My only advice would be that she wait til the last possible minute she has to order the dress because her body will be changing almost daily as she gets into her 3rd trimester. At 6 mths I bought a dress a size bigger than I was at the time and by 8 mths i needed another dress cuz it didn't fit. All girls are different but best to wait as long as possible to order a size and get fitted.

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
I believe you can order extra fabric from your designer so everything matches. Your seamstress will be able to add the fabric to the dress so it fits your BM.

Most designer have a maternity section. So pick your dress and then have something similar.

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
i would get the same desginer- most have a maternity dress in the line- My girls are wearing Alfred Sung/Dessy and After six and they have 3 materninty dresses that are so cute. and not to mention CHEAP.
but even if you dont get a maternity dress- all empire waist dresses work perfect for a preggo BM- just order a couple sizes bigger.

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
it's so nice to see a bride that's actually happy for her pregnant bm! lol. for real! Honestly i would call the dress shop & ask them what is best...they'll probably be able to steer you in the right direction...some will order extra fabric to be sewn into the back of the dress, some may have a maternity line, etc..
congrats to your friend!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
My cousin was 8 months pregnant at my wedding in August and it was so cute...I was so happy for her!!! The girls dresses were all from Jim Hjelm. What I did was basically pick out a color and a fabric and then about 10 dresses...I let them all pick their own, which worked out perfectly, because Jim Hjelm has maternity ones...Try looking there!!! (pics in album, btw)

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
i was in a wedding over the summer & one of the girls in the bridal party was 7 months pregnant. we also had bill levkoff dresses (as the above poster said) & she ended up having to purchase two dresses & have them sewed together. she ended up spending a lot of money. if i was you i would look into the maternity dresses in the same color.

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
My sis, who is one of my BM, will be 7 and a half months pregnant for my wedding. I asked the dress shop and they said they can either order the dress long or a larger size and then they just cut a slit in the lining to make room for her belly and bring the dress up at the A line or Empire line so that the larger part of the skirt falls over her belly. I would recommend ordreing the dress 'long' if you can so atleast it will fit in the bust so you won't have to pay for those alterations which can get pricey. :)

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid
My SIL told me she was pregnant when we already bought the dress (Ann Taylor) we called them up and we ordered extra fabric, her MIL reconstructed the dress.
Or she can order the same BM as the rest of the girls but order a really big size then have them alter it.
