What do I do with my dress when it comes in? Do I keep in in the bag, hang it in the closet? Do I let the train hang out or bussle it?
Also FH and I live together and I don't want him to see the dress. I was thinking of leaving it at my MIL's house.
Sorry so many ????s, but I never thought about this until now. Thanks so much Girls

Re: Prepping your dress for the Big Day
i picked up my dress the thursday before my wedding. they told me to take it out of the bag, and hang it up, with a sheet on the floor underneath it so i could spread out the train.

Re: Prepping your dress for the Big Day
Currently my dress is in my closet in both bags. I haven't taken it out, I'm afraid to. My wedding is less than 6 months away. They told me to hang it up and take it out of the plastic.. So far, I haven't done that. I don't want to take the protection off of it. When I get it altered, then i will bring it home the day before the wedding and hang it and put the sheet under it.

My dress is hanging from the hangers and tucked up into a sheet so it doesn't drape on the floor and/or get full of dog fur. The week before the wedding, I will lock up the room and let my dress hang properly with the train extended so it will look better.

But what are you hanging it from? A hook? your closet? My mom told me to have a plant hook screwed into a beem in my ceiling. Do I need to do this, really?

They say not to hang it against a wall bc that will flatten the one side of it and make creases. Hanging it on a plant hook from a beam is a good idea. Listen to your mother!

It's on the closet door that has slats in it - not the best place.... I originally wanted to have a hook screwed into the ceiling, but neither I, nor FH have done it yet.

Re: Prepping your dress for the Big Day
I brought mine home the friday before the wedding. I hung it from the ceiling (my father put in a hook screw in the ceiling - then opened up the train and tied a string to the other side of the room so that the train didnt touch the floor. It actually looks really cool in the pics and in teh video that way.
