outside of shower situations, I always try to give cash- especially if it's a milestone event because I know that everyone else is going to give 'happy 25th Anniversary' or 'Happy 30th Birthday' items.

As for presents, if he is into Ipods, I got my bro (who is really into music) these speakers that he can play his music off of. It was slightly expensive but I know he'll use it - which I knew he wouldn't use a watch or something!
