Preserving your bo-k

Preserving your bo-k

I really want to preserve my bo-k but its so expensive!! Does anyone have a recommendation about how to do it affordably? Is it possible to do it yourself?

It will cost a couple hundred. My coworker said though that it turns brown after a couple of years. I would suggest maybe putting it in a candle.

You can do it yourself with silica gel, google directions as to how.

But, if you really have your heart set on a special momento, have it professionally done. I've seen some examples and they come out beautifully, framed under glass with pictures or the invite.

I didn't do this, hindsight I wish I did.
I just put my bo-k in a vase the way it was and it dried that way.

What exactly do they do to it? What is it preserved in?

I wish that I had had it done professionally. My mom attempted to do it for me...doused it in silica gel and all the rest that you are supposed to do, and it still molded and had to be tossed.

There were a couple of 07 girls who had it done and it came out beautifully.

Thanks for all your input! Maybe it is worth the $$. Does it still turn brown if you have it done by a place like keepsake?

If you look on the keepsake website it shows the entire process of preserving and you will see why it's so expensive. They take a picture and then take apart your bo-k and then put it into preserving conditions...when that's finished they retouch it to fix any bad coloring and to bring out the brightness it should have, or replace any flower that didn't work (some flowers don't preserve well) then they put it all back together and put it in a shadow box....

Personally I think it's worth it. So much is spent on the wedding and most of it you don't get to keep. This allows you to see your flowers, your FH flowers and your invitation in a pretty 'work of art' I personally think it's a good use of the $$
