Presidents Day, day off?

Presidents Day, day off?

so my mom and I are going to start shopping for bridal shower locations in Queens and Nassau and we saw some great prices for a weekday lunch catering menu so were thinking to keep costs down, we could do it on a Monday holiday.

It needs to be between January and MArch and the only two we thought of was AMrtin Luther King which I know that a lot of ppl have to work on. So what about President's Day in February...is everyone off from work basically, I know I am...

help, plzzz, thanks

not a bad idea, im a teacher, so we're all off, and most state and government jobs will be off. Just remember that a lot of people go away that week, cause kids are off, or they take a long weekend trip(skiing). but if you dont think people will be away, I think its a good idea!

Some companies give both Martin Luther King and Presidents Day off and some alternate between the two each year and some don't give either off. I would start asking the people you are invited just to get an idea.

Also, as another poster said a lot of people take vacations during President's Day week because the kids and teachers are off from school.

Some offices are closed (if they follow the stock market calendar) but it's not safe to say that everyone is off that day. I have it off now (b/c I'm working for a financial company) but when I worked at other companies, I definitely had to work that day.

you may want to double check that on a Monday holiday you would be able to get a cheaper price. i always thought those days where more expensive.

ehhh I wouldn't do it. I don't like infringing on people's long weekends...

I don't have off either- We get Major Major holidays. i noticed a lot of companies have cut back on the days they close.

I have never had President's Day off, FYI. It depends on your guest list and their jobs, but I have never had it off. (I used to work for a newspaper and now work in health care.)

i work at a university. Presidents day for is is a floating holiday... we are not closed, but if we choose to work that day then we are granted a floating holiday when ever else we want during the year.

That is a GREAT idea but make sure to talk to the places first and make sure they their rates don't go up on a holiday. They might treat that Monday like it's a Sunday and then you don't have to worry abuot president's day. I know I'm in a union and we have off for the holidays and a lot of other places do too but like someone else said, people go away that week skiing and such. good luck!
