Pressure! Pushing down on me, Pressing down on you

Pressure! Pushing down on me, Pressing down on you

That's the first song that came to mind when I wanted to post this topic.

Anyway, does anybody else feel like it's a mad dash to get all (or at least most) of the vendors booked?
I kept kidding myself too: I'd say 'We can relax for a bit once we book the hall, then we have the date so we're pretty safe' then 'well i want to make sure i get a photographer i like so we should get on that' or 'djs book pretty quickly so I don't want to miss out on someone good' and so on...

maybe it's just my personality but it's hard to not think of the next task when whatever service you're looking at could potentially book up.

any other girls finding yourselves putting this kind of pressure on yourselves?

I am the same way! My dad keeps saying, 'the wedding isn't for another 18 months!'...but I am afraid that the vendors I want will be booked.

Our engagement will be 2 years long. When we first got engaged I went out & booked everything within about 8 months of our engagement. I wanted everything done & not have to worry about it.

I wanted to spend my last year engaged on doing the little things....besides my dress which i saved for now

Definitely said the same thing! First I was gonna wait to book my RH to see if I could get a last minute deal. That went out the window when I found myself signing the contract! LOL
Then I said, ok I can sit back and relax...we have our place now wait till there is more money for deposits.
But...the fear set in that my vendors would not be available on my day.
So now I have my RH, Band, Photo/Video, and dress and now i am REALLY tapped out. We have to wait for more $ to book anymore.

Perfectly normal though...we all want a perfect day!

I totally know what you mean!!! I was like that up until now basically. Definitely for RH, photographer and band I wanted those booked!!

I am just working on florist and then I'm slowing down for the rest, in somewhat this order:

makeup
Accomodations
Dress
BM Dresses
Transportation
invitations
hair

You have plenty of time. Many people plan their entire wedding in less than a year!

When I first got engaged I started to go to vendors and found the people pretty fast that I loved and wanted to work with. I think part of the reason that I found the best people is that I was not stressed at all. I knew I had plenty of time!

Take a step back take a deep breathe and plan. So reason to feel pressure to book now. Time is on your side!

yeah breathing a little easier after this past weekend and how productive i was- already have photo/video, i'm just about booked with a dj (just have to actually sign a contract) and already have limos (FH wanted something specific). still figuring out (aka stressing about) the florist and then i'll probably move on to something else.

FH is the best though, he knows me so well and i express certain fears and thoughts to him and he tells me exactly what i need to hear to calm down

but ultimately it will be worth it, we will all have great weddings

Definitely rushed. Booked all my major vendors in two weeks. My date is close to my one year mark so I was a little stressed. I also wanted a better idea of how much I was going to be spending.

I felt like that when booking the hall and photo/video. I had already done my researching prior to planning my wedding so I had an idea of who I wanted to book but I still wanted to meet with different vendors and not just settle on the first one I saw. Now that i have booked my major vendors like RH, Photo, Video and DJ .. I feel like I can relax on everything else b/c those were the most important vendors for me to book right away.

I totally hear ya!! My main priorities were the RH, photographer/videographer... and next my DJ. And then I think I can relax a little. I feel those are the most important because if you're date is booked already you're screwed. So at least the other things like flowers and limos are more easy to work with. But yes I agree it is easy to feel pressure from everything but just take your time. It will all fall into place.

Yes, as soon as we booked our Church and RH, I made sure our photographer, videographer and DJ were booked.

Next on our list are limos and florist. I already called the florist I want to use and they said they don't need to meet with us until July, so we'll be going in there then.

fh thinks i'm crazy for booking everything already but some vendors i had to. all i have left of what i feel like i HAVE to book asap is the hotel block.

then i'll probably do limos but i'm not stressing about that.

absolutely! I want to be able to have my pick of vendors after doing my research. Things DO book quickly. FH still doesn't believe me about how quickly things book...that's why I'M in charge of researching the vendors

I feel the same way... I love my vendors and I would be so upset if they were already booked! Actually, the soloist I wanted for the CH was booked for my day and we were so upset.

If you know what you want, book it asap!

Haha now this song is TOTALLY stuck in my head! I did put pressure on myself b/c this summer is the bar exam for me and I know that I am a HUGE procrastinator and really didn't want to have the oppurtunity to use wedding stuff as a distraction. So I basically was like, we need to book our major vendors NOW and in like Aug we will be able to chill and do fun stuff like dresses, etc. once the bar is over. It is def stress that I don't need LOL BUTTT I know it will pay off in hte end!

I was the opposite... until January. FH and I did practically nothing for the first 8 months. We looked around, but just didn't really feel like it was necessary. I got a call from the florist I was thinking of using saying that somebody was inquiring about the date... so then I got worried because all my vendors can't be substituted with other people. THEN.. i felt rushed.

I felt the same way. Now that we have all the big vendors booked, I'm def less stressed.
