Pretty Awesome Story

Pretty Awesome Story

I got a tip from another bride on here(kahlua716, thanks you!) to check out Pearsall Park in Amityville to take pitures between the ceremony and reception, so my BFF (who is also one of my BMs) and I went to look at it.

I had about 7 other parks to check out but Pearsall was the first one to look at. I went down Bayview and didn't see it. I onnly found some docks and a small beach at the end of the block. So, we moved on to look at the others on my list.

The next park was a small beach with a kiddie pool. The park after that didn't exist! The street turned into someone's driveway at the end. But, there were two older guys outside and I asked them where the park was and they told me that the park before and the one I was looking for were the same park, but the internet gives two different names and two different addresses for the same park!!! Thanks Google. So I asked them (since they're locals) if there were any nice parks to take pictures at. The one guy told me there was a nice park where he took pictures at for a wedding once. He told me to go back to the main road and turn right at a Sunoco.

I swear this story is going somewhere... keep reading.

So I go to the next park on my list and again it was a beach with a kiddie pool.

I go on to the next one which after much searching turned out to be a playground on a side street!!! (Thanks again, Google)

So I'm hungry and thirsty, so is Heather and she has to use the bathroom (small bladder, though I'm extremely proud of her for only going once during this excursion... Love you Heather!!!) So we stop at a Dunkin Donuts to use the bathroom and get some coffee. I ask this 16 or 17 year old girl who worked there if there was a Sunoco around. So she says, 'Oh the one they just redid and reopened?' And I said, 'If I knew about that then I wouldn't be asking you where the Sunoco is...' So after MUCH explaining I get her to understand the question. She tells me, 'Oh there is a nice park on that block!! I took my 8th grade dance pictures there.' She said it was John Something Park.

So we get back on the road. We get to Sunoco and guess what street we had to turn on... Bayview!!! But this time we're heading North. So we're driving and it all houses there and then we see a sign...'Pearsall Park' Are you kidding me?!?!?! We went the wrong way on the street the first time.

So the park is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! There is no one there except a lady playing with her two dogs in the back of the park. We're walking around and taking pictures to show FH later and we start talking to this lady, her name is Nancy. She says she goes there almost everyday with her dogs and there is never anybody in this place. So we are telling her about the wedding and blah blah blah. She calls her one dog over to her and the dog's name is Bosco....(Heather and I lost one of our best friends to a drunk driver 6 years ago and his name was Bosco). So we looked at eachother and said 'It's an omen!' Then a butterfly lands on Heather and flies away. Then it comes back and is basically harassing us! Flying around us, diving at our faces landing and flying away. (You know they say a butterfly is someone's soul) So I take my camera back out and I turn it on, the butterfly lands on Heather's coffee cup and spreads it's wings until I take the picture and it flys away and didn't come back.

We left there and couln't think of anything but what had just happened. We've been sad lately thinking about our weddings (her's is in May) and how Bosco isn't here to see us get married. But we decided yesterday that the signs he gave us let us know that even though he's not here he'll still be there at our weddings.

Sorry it's long, but that's the story. We thought it was pretty awesome.

Honestly? That made me tear up at work. Beautiful story! I’m tearing up because it reminds me of my Great Aunt Rose who, on her deathbed, promised her daughter she be at her wedding, which was three months after she died. Well, as they were leaving the church and walking down to a limo, a butterfly flew down and seriously landed on her shoulder. She didn’t notice it at first and walked about ten feet with the butterfly just sitting there until her husband pointed it out. They had a great photographer who actually noticed before anyone else and has a ton of pics of her and the butterfly.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! <--me because I'm a teary eyed sap, lol.

Yeah--I had never actually heard that butterflies are people's souls, but hey, I wouldn't be surprised!

Thanks again for sharing your story--it helps to put things in perspective too.

I'm glad you found it! It is pretty!

Beautiful story!! There was a butterfly in my mom's backyard a few weeks ago that was following a softball up and down up and down as my sister's FH threw it up in the air and caught it...We kept saying- 'That's gotta be Pop-Pop!' (My grandfather who recently passed away)

Gotta love butterflies...they always allow you to remember your loved ones who have passed...

I wonder if butterflies are Angel's visiting Earth....

Re: Pretty Awesome Story

It is fate and you are meant to take pics in that park.

I just love that park. My parents live up the road from there and they want us to take our wedding pics there after the church.

From what I understand you have to write the Town a letter asking for permission to use it. I know my mom sent in a letter for me last year and they wrote one back honoring the request.

I think this will also reassure that the park is cleaned up for the wedding (no leaves, etc.).

HTH..

Im totally all goose-bumpy now, that is an AMAZING AMAZING story! Cant wait to see your pictures now. The butterfly ALONE would be wild, but holy cow, BOSCO??? That is TOOOOOOOO WILD to be any thing other than a big fat wonderful happy thumbs-up sign from your dear friend. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope you share that story with everyone who knew your great friend!!!
