St EPhrams in Bay Ridge/Dyker Heights kinda area is GORGEOUS but it's Roman Catholic

For Suffolk, I know another bride said she didn't like it, but St John the Baptist in Wading River is beautiful inside... I grew up in that parish, but I took FH there (who is very critical) and even HE thought it was beautiful which actually surprised me. Check it out.

Is it a stead fast rule that both ppl must be catholic to be married in a catholic church?

I'm agnostic and Infant Jesus said they would marry FH & I there.. he never made his confirmation either (and they said he wouldn't have to).

It depends solely on the church - some are strict, others aren't.

Wow, then they're SUPER liberal... with you agnostic and he Catholic but no confirmation... that's super lax.

But Jess is right, depends on the church. I dunno about St. Ephram and their policy, I'm getting married at FH church St Bernadette (which isn't all that pretty but it's his family church)...

Regina Pontius is another pretty church in the same area, on 13th ave.

The prettiest church I've seen in Brooklyn is St. Francis on 7th Avenue in Park Slope (it's catholic tho). It is breathtaking.

I was raised Catholic.. I made my confirmation AT Infant Jesus. But for the last 10 years or so I've considered myself agnostic. They were aware of this when I called for information (I was upfront about it). FH never made his confirmation but they said it was fine.

but I've heard the same thing from a lot of churches - I called a few in the area when we were debating if we wanted to have a church ceremony to make some family members happy- and 1 out of 5 said they would do it for us. My experience was most were liberal or at least willing to work with us.

I do know that some churches are VERY strict about this. I just haven't had any experience with that.

I don't want any crazy rules you know? I am non-denominational and we searched 20 churches on the North Shore on Sunday but most of them were locked - and it was raining all day! I am going to try the south shore next weekend lol.
