Honestly just give what you can afford.

whoaaaa they rsvp'd yes and did not show. $250-the cost of their plates = wedding gift

I would still reciprocate the gift because even though they were a now show they still sent you a $250 gift and you said you're not that close. I think they tried to make it up..

right they rsvpd yes and never showed up and got us a gift for 250$ after they didnt show which is fine wtvr but now its their wedding and I am def not getting them a gift for 250 when we r rsvping no lol. I dont know what u mean 250$ the cost of the plate, the plate was around 150$ each but thats besides the point, its not a huge deal but its not like they went above and beyond with their gift after not coming.

isnt it customary for people esp brides to try to make up wtvr the couple lost by them not coming. ive done that when I couldnt show up before and sent someone a very generous gift bec I knew they lost money.

Duh Brain fart they did send a gift. I dunno I think 150 is a fair amount. I had to RSVP no to a wedding of a friend and I am only sending 150, but she is coming to mine. Maybe 175.

Definitely but I always reciprocate what people have given us in the past at other functions..bdays, xmas etc..I would think a wedding would be the same. At least I hope it is because we are one of the last ones to get married in our group of friends and we have always been generous.

of course but i dont think 250 was generous for someone who stood us up lol just my view. oh and she is also someone who only registered at bloomingdales not to knock bloomies but that place isnt cheap. i think 250 would be beyond generous of us if we rnt even go. dont see myself getting her a gift over 125-150.

In my opinion, her standing you up and giving you a registry gift that cost $250 would be equivalent to you responding no and sending a cash gift of maybe $125. If you RSVP no, whatever cash gift you send is profit for her. She RSVP'd yes, you paid for her plate, she stood you up and then sent you a registry item...you technically still lost money.

I know this is an awful way of looking at it it...but ...

based on your sitch, just b/c they rsvp'd yes and didn't show up, i'd give them $200 max. but i think that's even being too generous.

ye thats exactly how i feel. i think 125 is what we may settle on.

I agree with this, but its sounds like you've already made up your mind, so just do what you think is right. If they're not super close friends, then I'm sure they will appreciate any gift. Because they were no-shows at yours, I'm sure they'll understand if you're still hurt and therefore give them less.
