I want to use Michael from the Jewel Box in Bellmore for my hair and makeup. I booked him a long time ago and I just called for prices. He told me that brides are $300 and mother of the bride and bridesmaids are $135. This is for both hair and make-up. Is that what it really costs? The $135 seemed kind of reasonable to me but the $300 put me in a little shock. He will come to my house to the hair and make-up so that is a plus. Also, Do I tip him? I know that sounds like I am being cheap, but it just seems like so much money. If I tip 20%, then that's $60 and I would be giving him a total of $360?! I know he will do a perfect job so I want to use him.. Ladies, please give me some input here. Thanks! Kelly

I know that is high but I am not sure what to do. I feel like I will be wasting money if I go to other people for trials and don't like it. I feel like I should just do it. I have to think about it.. kelly

Re: Price of Hair and Make-UP?
I'm paying 250.00 for hair and make-up...but she is coming to my home. So yeah he seems a little pricey, but if it'll make you happy and you can afford to do it - then go for it!!

Re: Price of Hair and Make-UP?
I am getting my hair done at the salon ($65) and my makeup at my parents house ($125 for me and then $25 for my mom). According to the WeddingChannel.com tipping section, you don't have to tip a makeup artist or hairdresser coming to your home because it is assumed that they are charging you a higher rate than normal (With that said, I was so amazed with my make up trial, that I do plan on tipping my makeup artist and plan on passing her information to anyone who asks). The suggestion is that you should provide a small gift of gratitude, but I'm trying to figure out what would you give a make up artist?

I was wondering about the tipping..Thanks. I would give a gift of gratitude, but what? A bottle of wine? I don't know what else?
