Hi everyone, I was just trying to get an idea of how much I should be expecting to pay in this category. I have heard of people paying $4000 for both and calling it a deal. But that seems very steep to me. I was thinking that I would get a package for half that. And do most people keep the videographer for the whole day?
Are there any recommendations as well?
And when do you normally take your engagement pictures and is that included within your wedding package or is it seperate?

$4000 for both is an amazing deal. I'm paying more than that and I booked in 2005.

We paid about $8000 for both, this included my proofs, my album (fancy one w/ 125 pictures), 4 large pictures for the house, my thank yous, my video (all day coverage) and my photographer with his assistant (all day coverage). It's more then I would have liked to spent, but these are pics you will look at for the rest of your life. My Sister in law skimped and now she cries whenver she sees them.

We are paying $4,500 for both. We are having the photographer for 12 hours and the videographer for 10 hours. We are getting the bridal album, 2 parent albums, thank you's, additional pictures in 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, and 16x20, proofs, and 3 DVD's for our video. We are also getting the engagement shot.

ha, well, if you find a whole package of both for 2k, then let us all know! That would sure be nice...
I'm paying about 4k just for photo. We haven't booked video yet, our photographer doesn't do video. Even if he had, the people I met with who did both didn't really have much of a price break for doing both. We got a lot more out of our photo for that price than we would have gotten at most other places we looked.

I think $4K for both is a good deal actually, but it depends what it includes. We are paying about $5500 for our photo, video, album, parent albums, and thank yous.

I am getting both for $2400. I am using Golden Moments for video -- Pat is awesome! I am using a Manhattan-based photographer who works for the knot. Her site is jenniferdavisphotography.com. SHe is really sweet, has a great eye and we are very happy with her. Because she has never shot at our location before she went up there today and did a location scout.
