Prices Flexible?

Prices Flexible?

I just started looking at places and found a place that I love - only problem is that it came up ~$20 per head more than I though it would from previous online research on the place (bride review and advertisemnt said $70-98 rather than the ~$120 that they quoted me).

Are the prices they give negotiable? Should I bring up the research that I found on thier prices? I have a second back-up place that is also really nice (and came in $50 cheaper a head with the current price quoted!) but I really think this place is the one, but don't want to get ripped off... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I think it doesn't hurt to ask...but it also depends on what date you want if its prime wedding season its always going to be more I would make sure your not looking at prices for a different season first

You can definitely bring up the info you have....but is that info for the same day that you want?

$70 per head could be for either a Friday or Sunday wedding...and $120 per head could be for a Saturday. $70 could also be for a winter wedding or for a wedding that is considered 'off season' by that hall. $120 could be for on-season.

Are you still deciding between OFC and Smithtown?

go there and speak with them in person - price depends on time of year, friday, sat, sun, evening or afternoon, and it also depends on what you are adding on during the CH, the dinner, if you are having a VH, etc. etc.

depending on when you are getting married you have more leverage - we used the fact that we were having a december wedding on a friday to get what we wanted for the price that we wanted....there is no way we would have gotten the same deal for a saturday night in september....

You can try to negotiate.... The worst they can say is no... Honestly, I persoanlly wouldnt bring up the other info... Just ask gurls on this site what prices they got for the place and see if it matches... Yes, the time of year, day. and afternoon v. evening has alot to do with it...

definitely try to negotiate.

if you decide to bring up the info you found, make sure it's for the same day, same time, same season, etc.....because all of that matters when they quote you prices....another thing that factors into their quote is your min guarantee.....if yours is a lot higher than norm, they might be more willing to lower the per person cost because they'll end up making more anyway.

either way, negotiating doesn't hurt....the worst that can happen is they say no.

good luck

you can definatly negotiate, but be honest with them when you are talking. That price they quoted is probably the lowest package they have for like a sunday brunch but also look at everything they are giving you within that $120pp price.. if you have everything then the price justifies the means, but if you dont neeed the shrimp boat, or dont need the vienesse table, tell them that and see what they will do for you

You can definitely negotiate, but it won't be more than $5-10 a head that they'll go down. Some places don't even want to compromise their services - for example, I LOVED a hall that included the Viennese hour in their package. I asked if it was possible to cut that out along with a few other things and they said no because they want the guests to see what they provide in their package for their reputation. Keep looking around though, there are so many options!

Not necessarily. I got Fox Hollow to come down $20pp when I was looking there. It actually bothered us that he over quoted us so high in the first place that we didn't want to deal with it. . . . .

I got them down $20pp by bringing up the research that I did on here. I say make sure what you are looking at was relating to the time frame and same night of the week as you are looking for - those Reception guides might be very low, I would try looking around for what girls who had / are having their weddings there were quoted. Then I would suggest gently bringing it up - I did it by asking if there was a difference in the packages that I wasn't aware of. . .when he said no, he told me he would 'see what he could do' and came back $20 lower. I would defintely try talking to them.

I'm sure it depends on the hall you are working with too. Some may be more willing to compromise.

Actually I'm now deciding between Smithtown Landing and Danford's - The Old Field club was really difficult to deal with - he informed me that he does not respond to emails, and I have to call him during specific business hours, usually 11:00-12:00 weekdays (not going to happen with my extensive travel schedule at work)...also bad dates and a 'take it or leave it' attitude. I was dissapointed since that was my number one place I though (and I was willing to pay for that).

Smithtown landing almost seems 'too good to be true' - very accomidating but not very many recent reviews for the place - also LOTS of dates and times. I really liked Danford's but there's a pretty big cost differential between that and Smithtown...

honestly if thats the additude they are giving you...i would give them my business...jmo go with the place you feel more conident in....in the long run i think it will be better for you
good luck

i agree... I dont understand how they can be so strict with you when you arent even booked... if they are giving you this treatment now when they are suppose to be swooning you and making a good impression, imagine what they will be like AFTER you book!

No one is going to quote you via email, and if they do it is subject to change.

Ypou have to pound the pavement and make trips to every place that interests you!

People told me that the RH we were looking at wouldn't budge because FH and I are getting married in June and it's a peek month. So much for that.

I got our RH to come down on the min. from 110 to 80 people and I also got them to come down about $35 pp.

They also threw in Chair Covers, Centerpieces, Viennese trays and extras for cocktail hour.

It doesn't hurt to ask!
