Hello folks! I wonder what a reasonable price is for wedding invitations. I'm going the unconventional route by having my friend help me make them (she and her bus. partner are graphic artists) and got some prices back from her printer. I can leave those here if that helps but don't want this to be too long. On another note, where can I leave a posting re: a salon on LI that I think is HORRIBLE and about which people need to be warned? (It's Sugar Plum on Merrick Road in Lynbrook). Thanks!!

Re: Prices of invites.
Mine were letterpress, so they were more expensive. They were about $1,400 for 125. with reply's and reception cards.
I probably over did it, but they are beautiful!

We ordered our online and got 100 invites, 100 respone cards, 100 reception cards, inner enevelopes, outer enevelopes, respone enevelopes, tissue paper and ribbon to put our invite together...and then tax, shipping & handling a total = $280
We were very happy with the way then came out and arrived within a week from when we ordered them. I would recommend them:

Re: Prices of invites.
Sugar Plum had the WORST customer service I'd ever witnessed. We were ignored from the get-go and when I asked if there was a section for mother-of-the-bride we could browse through in the meantime, I was barked at w/ 'You'll have to wait.' I replied, 'That's obvious. My question was whether we could browse in the meanwhile, since you're all busy,' and the salesperson mumbled something about it being another section. That didn't answer my ques., either and I immediately wanted to leave just from that service, but my mother was more patient and we found out that they label every dress w/ 'Sugar Plum' so you don't know the designer or style #. All the books I've read on wedding planning warn to run when you see that nonsense in a bridal salon. My mother was told she might need the next size up in a dress so we asked what size she had on and the woman replied by smiling at us patronizingly!! When my mother asked, 'You can't tell me what size I'm wearing?' (it wasn't on the tag), the woman said, still smiling, 'Nope.' What nonsense. However, other ppl. were trying on dresses and doing bus. w/ them so obviously there are some ppl. willing to work w/ customers but we seemed to have attracted to sloths that day.
Sorry for the rant but it was obnoxious and patronizing. I felt, 'Who needs 'em? There are a ton of places in which we can do business.' There's more, too, but this is long enough. Thanks!!
