this may be a really stupid question.....but do you mail an invitation to the priest? i am not particularly close to the priest who is officiating our wedding - but figuring he is at the ceremony and should be invited to the party after - what did you girls do????

i mailed him an invite. i don't really know our priest either but felt the same way you did, so we sent him one.

We are having 2 because we have to have the priest from the parish and then FH has a friend that's a priest that he wants to marry us.
Ware inviting FH's friend and we know he will join us for CH and dinner,
We are inviting the other priest, but I would assume he will decline the invite. Most priests do unless they know the couple or the family well. I think it's courteous to invite them and let them decide if they would like to come. I've also seen clergy go to the CH and then leave.

we are inviting the deacon if he is able to marry us. fh just finished rcia and he was involved in the rcia. His wife was my teacher in school. so weird but the deacon is great.
