Is my priest the only one that is being so uptight that my photographer and guests can't use flash photography during the ceremony? Anyone have problems with their priest being too controlling? Not allowing video?

Re: Priest not allowing flash photography
that is nuts!! what are you going to hand out flyers to the guests telling them to not use the flash??? yeah ok that wont happen...
your priest made a point to tell you this?? talk to you photographer, maybe they have dealt with this before and have a back up plan...like maybe they bring extra lights so they dont need the flash

Re: Priest not allowing flash photography
A lot of priests don't allow flash photography in the church. They usually will make the exception for the hired photographer but they'll ask the guests to refrain from using it because it's distracting.
I think it's ridiculous.

Re: Priest not allowing flash photography
there r a lot of preist out there who will not allow it b/c u r in the 'house of god'. Ask for a relative to take digital pics or ask the priest if u will be allowed a videographer. I am sure the U and FH can come up with a nice solution if u guys sit dwn and talk with the preist. HTH!!!!

Re: Priest not allowing flash photography
I would switch churches.
Just my opinion but I don't agree with placing such restrictions on the most important moment of my life. That being said, I don't think my photogs used flash in the church but we definitely had lights used for video and my guys were at the altar at certain points while I was coming down the aisle. Made for great angles and capturing beautiful moments.

Re: Priest not allowing flash photography
The professional photographer will not need a flash to get good photographs. Many very expensive, fabulous cameras don't even come with flashes. Flashes just wash out pictures. As long as they have a steady hand, they could take amazing pictures in the dark and they'll come out great.
As far as your guests, you can either have a small sign up where people come in or your priest will more likely just say something before the ceremony begins. It's not that big a deal. Don't worry about it!!!!!!!

wow... that's the first time i've heard of that... but i dont think that's acceptable. it's your wedding ceremony! how can you experience that and not be able to capture the moment with beautiful pictures?
i think that's asking for too much...

Re: Priest not allowing flash photography
My church's wedding info states that flash photography is not allowed during ceremony, & the priest at FH's cousin's wedding last week told congregation to please refrain from any photography during ceremony. He said that 'the moment should not be spoiled with flashes or clicks, but experienced first hand by everyone here.' Well...everyone took pictures. With flashes. Don't worry:)
