Priest wants to move ceremony time up 1/2 hour. Should I?

ok some of you already know the dilemma I went through with the first church I was booked at and I finally decided to go back to my St. Thomas to get married.

Anyway, long story short, we met with the priest (who btw is really cool) and he suggested moving the ceremony up to 2:30 (it was originally for 3).

Cocktail hour starts at 7.

Do you guys think thats too much time in between? Its only a half hour difference, but i'd like some of your input.

Thanks guys

I think it would be fine. My ceremony is at 3 and cocktail hour at 7. We are discussing moving it up to 2 b/c I dont want to rush taking pictures and traffic going from 1 place to the other.

I know it sounds crazy but I honestly thought our guests (which a lot are from Suffolk) might not want to travel to Queens and then BACK to Nassau for the reception then BACK out to Suffolk to go home.

I guess we'll see on the Day Of!

I understand, the church is close to the hotel and where most of our family and guests live so they wouldnt be going back and forth.

I wish I could move up my time, to have more time in between for photos.

If your Suffolk guests are traveling to Queens for church, then Nassau for your reception, they are in essence backtracking home.

I wouldn't worry about....it's a wedding and so many people take the time that is necessary to travel to share in such an important day!

Take advantage of the opportunity...people will find things to do in between.

I think it's fine.
Also the priest has more experience doing weddings and would know what's a better time to start so he must have a good reason for wanting to move the ceremoney up.
For example if your church has a school associated with it.. they might want to move it up to accomidate the school being let out at a certain time. Whatever the case... I would trust the priests opinion on it.

that sounds reasonable ... it will give you more time for pics

You should move it. This will give you more time for pictures. They have Saturday Vigil: (4:30 PM). And they start to set up around 4:00pm

It's better to move it to 2:30pm

I think its fine. It allows people to do their own thing in between.

my ceremony starts at 2:30 and my cocktail hour starts at 7 also! i think it will be fine and it will give us enough time to take pics before everything starts - that way we get to enjoy our ENTIRE cocktail hour!
