Princess99 - Tahiti cruise
I wanted to respond to your question, but I will caution you that my opinions are not worth much, since I've never been on a cruise.Personally, I am not a lover of the ocean, and I don't have very strong 'sea legs' if you will.
I wouldn't enjoy a cruise to anywhere simply b/c I don't enjoy being on boats for very long.
There are pros and cons to the Tahiti cruise. Here's some things to consider:
When you stay on the islands (in the resorts), you get a very good sense of the culture of the Tahitian people. You get to eat the local cuisine and learn to speak the language ('Maroolu' means thank you in Tahitian). I don't think you would really experience this on a ship.
Also, you live on the beach for days. As I said in my previous post - we fell asleep to the sound of the water every night - it was so beautiful. I'm not sure you can hear the water on a big ship, especially if you have an interior room. Just something to consider.
Lastly, my hubby and I went for a moonlit walk on the beach nearly every night during our honeymoon. I wouldn't trade those memories and those walks for anything in the world. They were perhaps the most peaceful and romantic moments we have ever shared. You could still take a moonlit walk on the ship, but isn't it more fun to have your toes in the sand than on the deck?
It's really just a matter of personal preference. Maybe you're not a beach person. Maybe you enjoy fancy dinners, dancing, shows or gambling. If that's the case, then I would definitely vote for the cruise, b/c in Tahiti there isn't much night life at all. It is not like Hawaii. I think some people are shocked at how remote and quiet Tahiti is. But, that is what makes it so beautiful and unforgettable.
Best of luck with your plans - whatever you choose, I hope it's a wonderful trip!
