Printing on envelopes

Any one printing the envelopes for their own invitations? The invitation place charges 1.75 per invite to do this and they are simply going to print it - i thought about doing this myself but not sure if its easy or not

I was wondering the same thing. Just bought the material to make our STDs and was considering printing on the envelope to avoid ugly labels.

Re: Printing on envelopes

if your not using a metallic envelope it's easy. just set a template up in word and voila! if using metallic envelope you need a laser jet so the ink will actually dry

Go to minuteman press....my sister got hers printed there rather than her invite person....they looked amazing and she figured it was better than doing it at home and risk ruining envelopes.....they didn't charge a high fee at all...try to give them a call for prices!

Re: Printing on envelopes

I just did my friend's invites the other day and we used clear labels and a calligraphy template we found on-line. I think I am going to do the same.

I'm thinking about it, it all really depends on the cost. Our invites are coming from India so the prices would be a little different than American invite printing.

I printed directly onto the envelopes with my STDs and plan to do the same for my invitations.

i got mine from indianweddingcard
and asked them for extra mailing envelop. i had return address printed by them in same gold ink (it was super cheap)
and I printed the mailing address myself using MS Publisher.

That's where we're getting our invites from. Good idea, I didn't think about using MS Publisher.

I've printed directly on the envelopes before and once you figure it out it goes pretty quickly. Never did a mail merge before though. How do you do that?

I'm doing them myself! I really couldn't care less whether they look perfect or not.... it's an envelope, people are going to rip it apart to get the invite out then throw it away!

Re: Printing on envelopes

To create a mail merge, you can make an excel file with all your information. I had columns for

Title, First Name, Last Name, Street, Apartment, City, State (spelled out) and Zip

I then save it.
I open up word go to Tools, letters and mailings, mail merge wizard, Select that you want to make envelopes, choose the layout of the envelope, then you have to select the excel file, select address block, and match the fields. then preview you envelopes, then print.

If anyone needs any help with this FM me and I can walk you through step by step, even over the phone.

Awesome!! Thanks so much! Last time I did the whole copy and paste thing, but this seems a lot easier!

The place where we were browsing the other day said they would do it for $1 an envelope so I'm going to go with them.
