Priscilla of Boston - Bad experience
I have recently had a bad experience with Priscilla of Boston that I would like to share and maybe hear other experiences like mine.
I bought a dress there which I thought was my dream dress. The dress was $5000. The sales person that helped me was great and I left the shop after ordering my dress excited and confident that I was going to have the perfect dress.
During my alterations is where the trouble started. I had 4 fittings for this dress. A month before my wedding at the first fitting the dress fit like a glove and needed no alterations. Within the next three weeks I had lost about 10 pounds so the dress was now bigger than when I had originally tried it on. The seamstress said she would make a few minor adjustments to the dress and told me that it would be fine. I told the seamstress that I knew I would not be happy with my dress like that and asked her to alter the dress returning it to the original way that it fit when I first tried it on. The seamstress was annoyed with me because she said it was a lot of work.
When I went to pick the dress up 2 days before my wedding the dress was already packed up and ready to be carried out of the store when I arrived. I asked them if I should try the dress on and they discouraged me from doing so. They told me that I could try the dress on if i wanted to but it was already packed up and ready to go and if I did want to try the dress on they would have to repress it and it would take a long time. So unfortunately I trusted the reputation of Priscilla of Boston and took the dress.
When I put the dress on the day of my wedding the dress had not been altered and was too big on me. It was awful. I was so unhappy the entire wedding because I was constantly pulling the dress up. I could not wait for my wedding to be over. I took the dress off the moment the reception ended.
I took the dress back to Priscilla of Boston with pictures of the dress. They would not even look at the pictures and told me that if they said that it was altered then the dress was altered.
This store completely ruined my experience with this dress and ruined a huge portion of my wedding. I did not order even 1 picture from my wedding and there are no memories of it in my house. I was depressed for about a month after the wedding ended. The sad part is that I have contacted Priscilla of Boston to amend the wrong they have done to me to no avail.
I know this has happened to other women. There is a posting on this website from a girl in 2002 who also bought her dress from Priscilla of Boston and who had a bad experience with alterations that were not done although she was charged for them. Unfortunately I believe that this happens quite often but many women think that there is nothing that can be done.
After thinking about this for months I have decided to take further action against this bridal shop. If anyone has had an experience like this please contact me at [email protected].
