Privacy

Along the lines of the posting from a while ago re plugging phone #s into Google, you might want to take a look at this and remove your info...

>>Here's an interesting information site...www.anybirthday.com type in your name and you'll get your birthday and year.
BTW--You can remove your name from the site.

Re: Privacy

This one bugs me more than Google. Google was giving away no more info than a phonebook provides... Are they getting these dates from school enrollment or what? They have me, but at my parent's zip code where I haven't lived for 8 years.

Re: Privacy

Valenia, if I am not mistaken, most colleges won't release info on their students/alumni...

They're claiming that their info comes from 'public' records, but I don't know what they define as 'public' records, short of it being an arrest record/court hearing.

Re: Privacy

I don't know, but they had me at my parents' zip code too and I haven't lived there since 1991!! They also had both my parents (who NEVER do ANYTHING online) listed!!

Re: Privacy

When I said school, I was guessing public high school. I went to a private university so that shouldn't be in public records.

Re: Privacy

valenia, thanks for the clarification.

But then it would be weird that mine didn't come up (or in fact anyone's with my last name) and same goes for FH. We both went to public HS. And so did my siblings, who also didn't come up.

If they got it from there, then it would be a difference which state you went to HS in... FH in NY, me in PA. Perhaps the policies are different for releasing this type of data.

Re: Privacy

How easy are they trying to make things for stalkers or people who want to steal your information for credit or identity? It's scary that with just a few sites you can know everything about a person!!

Re: Privacy

Hubby's own was not there and neither was mine. Boy, what will they think of next. IS anything private

Re: Privacy

Mine was there - same zip as when I was at college - and FH's was not. How infuriating.

Re: Privacy

FH is there, but not me. There are other people with my name born in my birth year, but none of them are me.

Re: Privacy

This concerns me because I pay to have my number unlisted!!!!!! Doesn't that defeat the purpose

Re: Privacy

Guys, you know by 'opting out' you're only confirming your information.

Your best bet is to probably leave the info as is and not give any more info.
