do a lot of people have private ceremonies? With almost no one there? How does that work? I am DREADING walking down the aisle, and I am dreading being 'given away' even more! The thought of that makes me sick to my stomach. But if I have a provate ceremony does that mean I have to give the Bridal party to boot? I am very interested to hear what everyone thinks.. Thanks!

Re: Private Ceremonies?
I am having a smaller cermony than reception due to the amount of people my ceremony location allows. I am going to do the invites backwards-the reception info will be on the invite and I will have a cermony card that I will only put in some of the envelopes.

Re: Private Ceremonies?
my sister is getting married in the bahamas jan 26th just the 2 of them, no one else very private
Then in february she is having about 130 people at westbury manor, from 12-5. NO announcements, no first dance, just light FM music (106.7) and Jazz music.
Only thing she is doing is a champagne toast and cutting the cake

I love that idea!!! It seems so much less stressful? It's funny I don't mind all of the stuff at the reception like being announced and having a first dance, but I really just dont want to walk down the aisle! Maybe I can convince the FH! THanks so much. I want to hear from more people to see what others did!

Umm... maybe a dumb question, but if it's just the 2 of them, who will the witnesses be?
Very cool idea, btw... sorry to have to ask a stupid question! I would love to elope with FH, but not tell anyone... but still go through with the whole wedding in August. It would just be out little secret... but I can't figure out the logistics of that since we couldn't get a marriage license if we were already married, right?

Re: Private Ceremonies?
ANyone else have any other creative private ceremony ideas? I would really prefer just me and the FH at the ceremony part but after that I just want the wedding to be normal.

I was wondering about that? So what are you doing with the bridal party? I know that sounds like a weird question but one of the reasons I am hesitating is because I have picked a bridal party already and I still want to include them but I like the idea of the private ceremony. Are you having someone(your dad?) walk you down the aisle?

Re: Private Ceremonies?
no problem...u know early morning u can go to the church or however ur having the ceremony wether its at home, backyard, church, etc
and than if u have a bigger reception , like my hall allows you to come 1.5 hour earlier to take pictures, than ill take pics with my bridal party n stuff, introduce them once the recption starts and we can all mingle and have fun than, im having what i see as a large wedding lol around i think it will tip over to 350 ppl i just KNOW all those ppl cant make it to the church , and it will be hard to accomadate everyone etc...and i know i always wanted an evening reception..... so im pretty sure all my family n friends wil love to come...

Re: Private Ceremonies?
Well, my wedding won't be that big!!! Probably no more than 130 or so. I just wanted to keep my bridal party included even if they aren't at the ceremony. Thanks so much, you rock!
