private ceremony

private ceremony

my one big dream for my wedding was to say my vows w/ my toes in the sand and crashing waves in the background. we booked wscc, and thought we had arrangements for the ceremony @ robert moses. long story short: the permit office jerked us around and now we're having the ceremony at the lighthouse instead. in order to still have my beach ceremony dream, we plan to have a quick, private (secret?) ceremony beforehand on the beach with just our officiant and photographer.

my question: should we keep it a total secret? can we tell people after the wedding, or do we need to exclude those pics from our album too? i'm worried people will be insulted (namely, moms) if they find out that our big ceremony wasn't the 'real' ceremony.

You need witnesses, so why not ask just the Moms (and Dads) to attend then have a nice brunch or dinner afterwards. That would be quite inimate.
I would definitely include those pics in the album. If 'people' don't like it then tought, it is what you want.

Youcan always 'renew' your vows on your HM.

the private ceremony would be immediately before the big one. we're taking pics beforehand on the beach, and i had wanted my photographer to set up a nice moment for us to see each other for the first time, so i think we're just going to turn that moment into our private ceremony where we say the vows we're writing.

Re: private ceremony

Do you have to do it w/o the parents?

You can absolutely have a private ceremony. You can even display the pics at your reception. It is your choice! Good Luck!
