Okay, so I know that when you get married in a temple/church people throw rice/ rose petals, etc., when you're leaving the temple/ church.
We're getting married at the reception hall...so I'm guessing no throwing of anything, since we're not leaving?

My girlfriend got married at her reception hall and she had us blow bubbles as they walked back up the aisle.

I was recently to a wedding at a reception site and we threw little tiny candy hearts (like little candy flakes, not like the ones from Valentine's Day that say 'Be Mine' That would hurt ) I thought it was a very cute touch.

I went to one where confetti favors were on the tables, and when couple left at the end of the night, dj made an annoucement we all went outside and threw confetti as they were getting into limo

I wanted to do sparklers, but we're not leaving (we're staying in the bridal suite at the Harrison House), so we're not doing any grand exit thing. Thank you though!

since our ceremony and reception are at the same place, we were thinking of having people throw stuff at us (that sounds weird lol) as we're walking back down the aisle and to the cocktail hour

We are giving bubbles to the people closest to the aisle and having them blow them as we walk out after being married...people will probably wll forget, but oh well.
