Probably TMI...

Probably TMI...

... but I need info. Last night I woke up 4x feeling like I was getting AF. I wasn't, but I was 'leaking' clear fluids. It has continued into today, and I'm still leaking clear fluids. Should I be alarmed? Does anyone know what this is?

Re: Probably TMI...

Well... from what I've read it's quite normal for vaginal discharge to increase in the second trimester. I believe it's called leukorrhea (or something like that). But if it's ALOT of fluid and it continues, or is accompanied by cramps or spotting, then I would call the Doc. Other than that, I would just mention it at your next appointment.

I had that 'leaky' feeling alot the week I got my BFP and then for about 1 - 2 weeks after.

Thanks Sandra! You always come thru!

It doesn't seem startling to me, because its not alot, and it's not continuous. Plus, I feel no pain, nor see blood.

I'll mention it at my next appt, if it doesn't become alarming.

Why don't you call your Drs office and run it by a nurse, they may want you to come in so they can make sure it's not amnionic fluid. Most of the time the discharge is mucousy more than watery, better to be safe.

It's stopped already. But if it starts up again, I'll give them a buzz. If it was amnionic fluid, that could mean preterm labor, right? God, I hope not!

PS: I'm catching a cold, and sneezing like crazy. I'm thinking that's why fluids would be flowing out, with all the added pressure from sneezing... no?

Re: Probably TMI...

It's good news that it stopped. The sneezing may hav induced the leakage, it may have been urine!
Sometimes preggos get tears high up in the amnionic sac and it creates a small by steady leak, it constantly replenishes itself that is why it is constant, maybe the baby was sittign on your bladder and you had a little bit of incontinence. Put on a pad if it happens again, this way you can fully see the color. It does not always mean premature labor, if you started contracting that may be a differnt story. Sounds like nothing though, just some good old wetting your pants.

Not sure when your due, but you could have ruptured your amniotic membrane!? Vaginal discharge should not feel like its 'leaking'. I would go to the doctor, even if it stopped. Better safe than sorry.

I'm exactly 16 weeks today, and am the due 1st week in Aug.... should I really check into it?

Re: Probably TMI...

this happened to me and it turned out to be urine- it also happen at 16 weeks after 2 sonos and, internal and alot of panicking they determined that it was how the baby was laying on my bladder. I never though it was urine becuase it looked clear on my underwear but I drink alot of water and my urine sometimes is clearish. do you feel anypressure down below? I felt pressure from how the baby was laying. I would call if it happens again but it sounds similar to my experience.

Re: Probably TMI...

I called, and was told that it's very normal to have vaginal discharge. However, they just want to make sure everything is ok, so I've scheduled for an appt on Mon.
I'm not feeling ANY pain, or pressure anywhere. Just a normal day, and thought it was weird that it felt like liquid was coming out. Plus, it doesn't help that I've caught a cold, and have been sneezing & blowing my nose (which the nurse says is probably causing this discharge).

ETA: It doesn't look like urine, though, nor is it thick, which I wouldn't be surprise if it was urine.

Antoinette, was the baby in a head down position? Because I have been feeling like I have to use the bathroom more lately, and then when I go, drips come out.

yes the baby was in the head down- like ready to come out mode making me have to use the bathroom all the time and I too would have much flow of urine. Thank GOD the baby found a new home becuase it was really uncomfortabe at some points.

Re: Probably TMI...

Come to think of it, I do have a lil pressure on my bladder. Not painful, but kinda like if I was leaning on my bladder.

Thanks alot to each of you, for shedding some light to my situation.

Re: Probably TMI...

I CAN'T BELEIVE that this just happened to me YESTERDAY!!!! I was just gonna make my own post about it but saw yours first.

here's what happened:
I called the Dr's office just to confirm my level II appt (scheduled for today) and told them as a by the way... whenever i sneezed or bent over or sometimes from nothing i felt like something was coming out. My underwear was definately wet. I was just joking around with them expecting them to say it was just the pee when you sneeze type thing. The Dr. got on the phone and told me to go to the hospital. I got completely hysterical (from shock) and he said to come to the office first to see if i needed to go to hospital or not.

He did a test to see if it was amniotic fluid. He said if the strip was yellow i was fine...if its blue then i go to hospital. It came out light blue!!! He said he wasn't convinced their was a problem cause he looked at my cervix while i coughed and checked the amniotic levels on the sono. plus since i was coming in the next mornign for level II they could get a better picture of the fluid levels.

Leaking fluid is apparently a very seroius thing...i had no idea. I am totally traumatized!
At level II they said all looked OK.

You must call the Dr...just to be safe. Keep us posted please!

Re: Probably TMI...

Sad news ladies.... my occurrence turned out to be bad. I headed to the doctor's office that afternoon, and they sent me str8 to the ER. After being there 3 days.... we lost our baby. In a nut shell, I was leaking amniotic fluid, because my body was rejecting the baby--- there was something wrong with the fetus.

I've been back to 'reality', and I am completely destroyed. I can't be alone, because I'm swamped with such agonizing emotional pain. Just wanted to share the update, and probably won't resurface on this parenting board for a while. Need time to recoup, and it just all feels harder & harder daily.

Thanks for being concerned, and for sparking for me to head to the dr to make sure everything was ok.

PS: I was 16 weeks along, and it would have been a lil boy.
