I have very long (to waist), thick, straight hair and having a very hard time getting curls to stay. I want my hair half up in long loose curls (not spirals). I went to 3 trials and the curls were out almost immediately. Can anyone recommend someone that has similar hair? My wedding is in almost 3 weeks, so I don't have much time. Thank you!

Re: Problem with Hair Staying
It sounds like your hair just doesn't hold curls very well. Some people just have pin straight hair. It migth not be the fault of the stylists. I'd ask your regular stylist, who is already familiar with your hair, what she recommends.
Have you tried curlers, rather than a curling iron?

The weight of your hair will pull the curls out fairly quickly. If you've had 3 trials and it happened at all of them, same thing will happen at #4. Did the stylists use a curling iron or hot rollers ? Hot rollers work better. I used to have waist length hair too.

Thanks for the replies....the stylist first uses hot rollers and then immediately after uses the curling iron. I went to the same lady (since I already booked her and gave the deposit) all 3 times. I actually booked her after the first time, not knowing it was going to fall out after a half hour. She actually told me last night to try someone else and she will give me back my deposit.

Would you consider getting long layers??? That may help lighted the weight of your hair and would definitely help keeping curls from falling out.

Re: Problem with Hair Staying
http://www.softspikecurlers.com/ try them. I'm an Irish Dancer, when I was younger I had the SAME problem, I would set me hair TWO days before a competition, take the curlers out 5 minutes before my first competition and by the time I entered for my 2nd (maybe 20 minutes later) my hair was pin straight. I heard of dancers using these, tried them... after 5 minutes I have a curl... the longer I left them in, the longer the curl would stay. Now once you 'train' your hair to curl it will be easier to get the curl you want. I'd purchase one pack and try that, make sure it DOES work for you before you go buying a bunch and it not working.
Another option... have the stylist put pre-curled extensions (tracks) in your hair, then put your real hair in an updo and leave the extensions hanging.

Re: Problem with Hair Staying
Well, I really don't want to make any changes for one day (even though it's a huge day) : ) I actually just got a call from ***************** (Khoulouds Beauty) and they said that they can get anyone's hair to curl, so I made an appt for a trial. I will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your response.
