I am trying to plan an engagement party and the date to have it is already a problem. My dad who is my heart and soulmate is unavailable for a September backyard tent party. He does weekend gigs and has no weekend nights open until January. I am now stuck with one Sunday date in November. So I now have to postpone my Sept. plans for November. I was so looking forward to a home party versus a restaurant party. Should I do the November Sunday date or just not have an engagement party? November seems so far away.

What about a Friday evening party at home?
Dad's not avaiable on Fridays till January, and my mom prefers not to have 60 people in the house.

November sunday. You should also consider a restaurant party. I had mine at one and had a good time.

I think it's okay to have it in Nov, espicially since your father can't make it until then..We got engaged in August and had our E-Party in Nov..It did seem far away at the time but once you start planning and everything, it goes really quick...

That stinks. I would definitely do it in November though because it sounds like your dad means so much to you and that is what ultimately matters.

Thanks for the encouragement. I just felt that we got engaged in July and by November the moment is over.

alot of girls on here got engaged and then scheduled their e-party when it was right for them...i got engaged in nov 08 and didnt have the party until feb 09...3 months apart...november is right around the corner and i think its more important to have your dad there than to have it earlier....and trust me the excitement over your engagement will not go away until your wedding day

time will definitely fly by! its only like 3 months a week until november 1!! that will give you plenty of time to plan it without being rushed. definitely have one though!

I would do November to be sure your dad will be there. Since you're thinking of a Sunday now, have you considered doing a brunch? We did a Sunday brunch for ours - it was around 50 people. We had it buffet style - eggs, crepes, waffles, bagels, then we also had a carving station, chicken dish, and pasta dish. Oh and of course, my FH insisted on having tator tots
It was great and everyone loved it
