When we called the church back in july they said they didn't have there books yet so we couldn't come in and that they would be gettin them in september. So we called back in september and now they are telling us to call back at the end of december. does this sound right??

i dont see why they wont let you book! Maybe they want to wait till your a year out since your an 08 bride? Is this a parish that you or FH go too on a regualr basis? If so maybe you can call back and talk to the father himself and ask him.

That doesn't sound quite right to me, but I guess every church is different. When we booked our church it was over a year and a half in advance.

I think that is weird...they should be able to at least write you in at the end of their 07 book. We booked our church in December of 05 for our December 07 wedding!!!!!

My church had told me the same thing. You couldn't book a wedding until that year. So if you are a 08' bride you would have to wait until Jan 1 2008 to book.

what do you do if your a Jan or Feb 08 bride? Thats nuts!

different churches do it differently. some only let you book a year in advance and some the year of (most likrly with exceptions for ealry January). but I have heard the 'not having the book yet' before. Good luck!

Honestly I've ALWAYS heard that they don't book too far in advance! My church requires 6 months minimum but I think at the max it's about a year in advance... AND they don't actually confirm your date until you do pre-cana, foccus, etc (not sure if you're catholic or not) so we have a 'penciled in date' and won't have anything guaranteed until the new year!

i have my date with my church confirm in august 06 for my august 07 wedding. but we arent going to do the paperwork or give the moeny until the end of this year or early next. i'm actually waiting for them to call me back right now to set up the appt. . i would like to get the paper work out of the way thanksgiving weekend. then we have precana foccus classes in the beginning of decemeber then the actual precana classes in april. what church are u getting married at?

I think it's normal...we weren't allowed to book our church more than one year in advance.

you're at about a year and half from your date and that's about as far ahead as i booked. my wedding was in june 06 and i booked my Church in january 05. they may not have their books yet, give them until december but ask if they can take your info to make sure no one books the date before you. then tell them you will formally call and come into fill out the paperwork later.
