Program ribbon question...please help

Hi Ladies. we are starting to put our programs together. I bought ribbon, but I don't want to punch holes in the program, I wanted to wrap the ribbon around the inside and outside of program along the fold. My question is do I tie a bow, or make a knot..I am trying to find pics of programs that have the ribbon like this, but most of them have holes punched. TIA
