We are debating about whether or not we need programs on our wedding. We're having 100 people, and the ceremony will be relatively short, about 25 minutes. If we do them we might have to make them ourselves because of the expenses, but we don't want them to look cheesy either. What do you girls think?

Re: Programs
I would think about making them yourself. It really isn't hard. There are websites that have examples to look at. The paper is not very expensive. I don't think it would be a big cost or a big headache to do.

Re: Programs
I've found that if I don't get a program at a wedding, I spend the whole night asking 'who is she', and 'who's that?'. It's nice to have an understanding of what's going on, and who all the key players are. I plan on doing them myself too. You can really make them look great - and you don't have to spend a lot of money either. You got lots of time between now and May to put something together.

Re: Programs
You can find the programs on ebay at low prices and they look great, I would recommend this before buying paper and printing the covers out yourself. It can become expensive, especially if you want color. The interior wording you can print at home.

Re: Programs
if its a typical ceremony i dont really see the point in programs. they look cute but for me personally i'm not even having them. it could also be because i haven't been to many weddings
this is as of now anyway. wait till a week before my wedding and of course i'll haven't wanted them.
but if you're going to do them i'd say make them yourself. buy the paper and print them out.

Re: Programs
you can totally make great programs all by yourself! using ribbon and nice paper, they'll be great! i think they'll take some work, one gal one here had fabric ones she and family sewed together (sewed fabric covers and then the paper pages in to place! PHEW a lot of work that must have been!) i think programs are an area where you don't have to spend a lot to get a great product and making them is smart unless you have the money to burn, then i'd be all about getting really fancy, pro ones. some homemade ones in the photos i got from knotties.
Hello, maybride03 surprise to see you here. Check my response on your Knot.com thread for the same post.

Re: Programs
Wow, thanks, everyone! The homemade programs do look nicer than I thought they would be. Bluesashbride, those are great pictures. All of them look so professional. Chmpgnrose, thanks for replying here and on theknot! Yeah, I went all over to ask for opinions. :) Would you mind sharing how you made them? If you don't want to post them in here, you can e-mail me at [email protected]. So far I think it's at least worth it to investigate how much and how long it would take to do the homemade ones, because most people seem to like having them as guests.

Re: Programs
honestly don't know who made all the samples, i just saved the pictures for ideas. but i think you can easily find some by surfing Bios on theknot. Somewhat Official Bio List Check out some of the awesome Bios on this list. Here's a DIY homepage DIY page and DIY Bride. i also bet if you find a picture of something you like and post it here with questions about how to make whatever is in the photo, tons of girls will help out with tips.

Re: Programs
We decided to make them and what a hit they were!!! Since my DH and I are both from acting backgrounds we designed them as Playbills. They included bios and pictures of us, our parents and the BP. We had the evening planned out as Act I and Act II. People really got a kick out of them. They are not necessary, but they are something that you can have fun with and personalize.

Re: Programs
Do it yourselves and use your money somewhere else. You'll have fun creating one, plus your creativity will come out. Good luck.

Re: Programs
I'm having someone do them. I don't think I am patient enough nor skilled enough to do them myself. What's the extra couple of bucks?
