Re: Programs now done!

Okay since a few of you have asked and now one individual blocked me because I didn't give them step by step directions last night after I got home from the WOTY I will do so now:

I do tend to help people by informing them how I did things but unless you have the program Indesign it is very difficult to go into detail with what I did. SO SORRY i am really trying to help people - more so then most designer would do so be patient if I don't write back with directions all the time.

Here is what I can state on how to do things unless you do have professional layout programs which I then can give you more detailed instructions.

Monogram - self design in Illustrator

Program: As I stated the paper was 8.5 x 11 what I did is divided it by half so I would have two programs per sheet of paper in the end. So a finish size flat is 4.25x11 and when folded 4.25 x 5.5.

My pages are setup in indesign to be 8.5 x 11 which i had a column to setup the page to be in half 4.25 x 11. Inputed my text, arranged it (if you need to know what words/what i typed out I could copy and past it into here). Then I printed it out on the ivory card stock.

I then cut down all the paper to 4.25 x 11 and arranged the pages and cover together. Then hand scored each page by running a blade over the halfway point with a ruler just slight pressure just to break the sheet so it would fold easier.

Then I punched holes two on each book and threaded ribbon, then i put on a orange bar and glued that with rubber cement then my square monogram which i had printed out 12 up on a sheet of 8.5 x 11 and cut down to 2 x 2 square i glued over it then when all programs were done put them under a book so they would stay folded and not pop open.

I hope that was more useful.

They look really beautiful! Just a quick question if you don't mind... did you use rubber cement as an adhesive for all of your paper related things? I'm in the process of making eparty invitations and I'm wondering which kind of adhesive to use. Thanks!

Re: Programs now done!

I used dots (glue dots) for the invitations - they worked so damn good but if you placed it wrong you were screwed because the paper would rip if you tried to undo your mistake.

For anything else it was rubber cement. It was hard to use though because on coated stocks because it would slip so you had to sit there with your hand on the damn thing for a few minutes to make sure it was set a bit before going on to the next one. BUT you can reposition everything and when it dried it was fixed on and not moving.

Tape runner even though it said perm. NEVER worked. It was really cool though to use but nothing stayed glued on - popped right open.
