Is anyone not giving out programs? I'm starting to think that we may skip them because I just don't have the time or energy to do them at this point. Looking for some feedback...

Re: Programs, to do or not to do?
We were thinking that too. Especially if everyone knows the people in the bridal party, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We are going to do them b/c we don't have that situation, but I could easily see not doing them!

Re: Programs, to do or not to do?
I am doing them because I am getting married in church but my dad is jewish (my mom is catholic and I was raised catholic) and my jewish family may not understand a lot of the catholic things so I figure the programs will help them in understanding the mass.

Same as Chippatrid. We're doing them because we're getting married at a Greek Orthodox Church and my family is Catholic. I want them to know what is going on. But if we weren't Interfaith, I probably wouldn't do the programs.

We are getting married at the hall. We have to many steps and strange family tree so we are not doing them. Whew! I was glad. Things would sometimes be complicated to understand in writing so it was easier that way.

we were considering it too - most people leave them at the churhc or just throw them away when they get home....our dj is announcing at the recpetion who everyone is and i figure almost everyone will know too.....but the jury is still out on it....

We are doing them because I did the designing and we will print them, and because we are not doing introduction songs in the party, because we want the party to be low key and nothing of big entrances. In addition, we come from different backgrounds, and I did include spanish and english poems in the program, as well as the order of the events since we are having an interfaith wedding.

Re: Programs, to do or not to do?
IMHO, programs are nice and (to me) was absolutely necessary to have as I was proud of my wedding party and wanted to give credit by putting their names in lights where possible. I've listed the entire wedding party's names, roles and their relation to us even if they were friends from college or childhood or DH's cousin as our Jr. attendants. We've also included full names of our officiant, organist, ceremony site name, wedding date, etc. I didn't want our guests to feel lost as to the order of sequence the ceremony's events or anyone to question: 'what's going on? What's the bride and groom doing?'
We also had incorporated some of our cultural heritage into our wedding as one of our guests was generous enough to get a Lithuanian wedding cake. It severed several purposes: decoration side by side our reception's cake, incorporate DH's Lithuanian heritage (DH's mother), and for our 150+ guests to share and eat it. However, many of my extended family (I'm Asian American) wouldn't know what it was thus the best solution was to put a brief description of it in our programs. I've also put a photo while we were dating, a poem on our courtship, our wedding websites, Lithuanian cake description all in our programs. Thus, with all this in our situation programs were an essential. Our Jr. BM and GM distributed it prior to the start of our ceremony as part of their duties. I given them baskets to hold it while distributing but they did not need to walk down the aisle with the baskets.

I'm only doing them because were having a Catholic/Jewish Interfaith ceremony so we want to explian the customs of each religion. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing them.

I think they are a nice touch, but it's not something I would stress myself out over.

Re: Programs, to do or not to do?
Right now, with over a year to go, I'm planning on doing them because I love getting a program when I go to weddings. However, if I'm out of time/energy/patience by the time my day rolls around, I'm not going to stress it. I'll probably be one of the very few who even notices/cares.

I am with Somedaybride on this one...I am just a little under a year to go....I will probably do them depending on the mood I am in when the time gets closer.

Is anyone including all of the readings, or are you just putting in the names of those involved?

They are so nice to do. People like to read along and know who's who in the bridal party!

Re: Programs, to do or not to do?
I am not doing programs. It is one extra thing to worry about, and one extra thing for my ushers to do. Also, most people do not save them. We are making an 11' x8' card in a frame that looks like a program, but it will be at the entrance of the church & then by our guest book at the reception hall.
Edited to add; The card outlines the parents names, the BP & the readers from the ceremony - and the B&G too!

Re: Programs, to do or not to do?
I am planning on doing programs, but if I was limited with time, that is the first thing I would cut.
I want to describe my Bridal Party members, andI am having a nondemoninational ceremony so it is a little but different then what our families are used to.
