proper etiquette for breaking up with a church
i soooo hate the church FH and I booked. My church was already booked and this is FH's childhood church. It is dark and UGLY. Like really ugly. We booked it before I saw the inside. I was so upset.
I'm not a bridezilla by any means, but it was made to be an auditorium for the parish school, but last minute they changed it to the actual church - so it has very little natural light and we'd have to site NEXT to the altar b/c there isn't enough space to sit in front (!!!)
they also require that i cover my shoulders and I still bought a strapless gown.
So we went to a wedding this weekend at another church - one that we actually used to attend together when we were good catholics and went to mass every sunday when FH lived in bayside-area. It dawned on me that this really was OUR church and we should get married there. they are more relaxed on the dress code and allow us to bring in outside music (if we chose).
soooooo, i called today and they have the date available (at the time we want too) and we are meeting with the priest on sunday after mass.
Now if it all works out - what do i tell the original church????
we didn't put any money down, but we've met with the priest twice. i just feel like i'm actually committing something super wrong by doing this.
