proud of myself!!!!

I finally took the plunge and practiced my calligraphy. I was formally taught it, but that was in 1981 when I was 9

At any rate, I bought a pen at michaels, and worked on it for over an hour.... it doesn't look too bad! I think I can save a couple hundred $$ doing the addresses and placecards myself....

yay!!! Finally a chance to save some $$

That's funny because I was thinking today about how I learned it before, so why wouldn't I be able to pick it up and save myself some money. Too funny.

I don't know how to write calligraphy at all, but i handwrote all my e-party invites myself and i have to say they came out real nice, i was so surprised...I was lucky because the return address on the envelope wasn't script writing so i didn't have to do anything like that. I bought a gold calligraphy pen. It does add a nice personal touch...GOOD LUCK

But after doing these i can say i wont do the same thing for wedding invitations lol

I studied Calligraphy when I was a kid, and my FH is taking a course on it as an elective, I think its a great way to save money and personalize things

I bought a kit to teach myself...gave it 5 minutes and gave up...maybe I'll try again when it comes time to have to PAY someone!

one thing I do remember from way back when.... somehow writing is more difficult with the 'real pen' (with the metal nib) than the calligraphy markers. The real pens drag much more, and the ink flow is difficult to manage.

I was surprised how easily I picked it up again after 25 years.....

That's great! Always good to save some $$. My step mother does calligraphy so she is going to do our invites.
