Providing directions in invitations

Providing directions in invitations

We're thinking of just printing them out ourselves. We have lots of OOTers.

Is it necessary to do:
Hotel to Church
Church to Hotel
Hotel to Hall
Airports to Hotel

And of course, doing the general ones for the locals.

Or am I being too generous here? Should I just think, hey, you should know how to use mapquest yourself! haha

I think we're also gonna print out the hote info instead of using the cards they provide...

What are you doing? Thanks!

Wow..I was just thinking the same thing.
I thought to myself that in this day in age people have comps and should be able to go to mapquest and get directions themselves lolol..

Re: Providing directions in invitations

btw, Mapquest and Google S U C K right now. For one thing, they're telling people to either take the LIE or the Belt Parkway from LaGuardia- um NO! I would never wish EITHER of those parkways on anybody! Traffic is ridiculous on both. I'm just doing my own directions now!

I can't decide though- if I want my guests to go to Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, I can do it one or two ways-

Have them stay on the Grand Central til it turns into Northern State. Then i could either-
have them take the Meadowbrook to the Southern State
OR
take the Northern State to the Seaford Oyster Bay.

Anyone familiar with the area? Whatcha think?

Thanks!

I think the least amount of time to spend on the southern state possible in the middle of the summer the better... I hate traveling on the southern state parkway in the summer it is always bumper to bumper...

So my vote would be Northern State to oSeaford Oyster Bay... but honestly I would rather take the LIE over the Northern State because it becomes only 2 lanes after Westbury...

So I guess I am no help...

BTW... to answer for your first question, I am including on the direction cards 1 side is to the church (from east, west, south and north, and from hotel) and on the other side is the reception hall directions (again from east, west, south and north and from hotel)

No you are totally helping!

Actually now I'm thinking - maybe have them stay on Northern State and get off at the Wantagh rather than go further to get on the Seaford Oyster Bay. But then they'll have to endure Sunrise Highway a little longer- guess it's not so bad.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news...

But isn't the Wantagh parkway the one with no lights... at night that might be hard for people who are not familiar with it... or elders...

I mean its no problem for me and you but I don't know if everyone would be able to do it...

Oh wow, I hadn't even though of that...

well the good thing is, they'd probably only take it when it's light out...coming back would be another story. hmmmm something to think about! Thanks!

Re: Providing directions in invitations

I can't help much with what roads to take, but here are the directions we did:

To Church
-From Hotel/Western LI
-From Eastern LI

To RH
-From church
-From LIE

To Hotel
-From LIE
-From RH

Both our RH and church are fairly easy to access from Sunrise and the LIE, so hopefully the LI guests can at least find the places. As for the OOT guests, if my directions aren't good enough, they can always mapquest or use their GPS!

We never put direction cards in the invitations at all. We have all of the directions on our website so we put that instead. We linked the hotels, church, airport, malls, restaurants.......etc. from mapquest.....so they have all of the resources there But if you are putting them in the invite, then I say the more the infomation the better!
