what would the two groups be grouped on? High and Low aggressors? You could create a list of aggressive behaviors and then count the frequency of the behaviors being displayed in each child.

Re: psych thesis help
thanks! but i was thinking, with relational aggression, if they exhibit 1 relationally aggressive behavior they would be considered relationally aggressive, right? so i am not sure there would be high and low levels of it, just relationally aggressive or not. maybe i shouldn't label so much as say children who use relationally aggressive behaviors will show more depressive symptoms than children who do not use relationally aggressive behaviors.
what would my variables be? just gender (dep?), CDI score (ind?), and group (relationaly aggressive or not - dep?)? i always get confused about independent and dependents...gotta look back at my old notes for that. i'm not sure what to right for my research design (stats). but i think i am done for tonight, i will try to finish it up tomorrow morning.
thanks for all the help tonight! ~lacey

don't all children show relational aggression??? They just vary in the frequency of displays. You could hypothesize that as relational aggression increases, depressive symptoms will increase.

Re: psych thesis help
You have your DVs and IVs mixed up.
Your DV would be the scores on the CDI. Your IV would be levels of relational aggression.

Re: psych thesis help
I would only study girls given that girls are the ones who use relational aggression and boys show other types.
