cheaper, still as nice.
Try the Riu Merengue, I went there 2 years ago and had the best time of my life!!!!!

i have to say punta cana. my families gone their the past 2 years and we plan on going every year. its absolutely gorgeous there and all the hotels offer so much to do!

my aunt, who goes with us yearly, has gone to both and said hands down punta cana.

I'd have to say punta cana. Check out Melia Tropical...its an all inclusive resort....

Paradisus Punta Cana is nice, so is the Melia.
Secrets / Excellence Punta Cana also - adults only.

Punta Cana hands down! I've been to both & I'm from DR & punta cana is much better. Puerto plata has not been renovated in years!

My buddy just got back frompunta cana, said it was his best vacation ever, like a 2nd HM forhim and his DW. I could ask himwhere he stayed, he saidthey were treated like royalty!

I recommend Punta Cana. FH and I went there back in March and we had the best time! Awesome beaches and the people were very nice, great service. WE stayed at the Punta Cana princess resort

Punta Cana - FH and I just went there and stayed at the Excellence resort, it was SUPERB!!!

Never been to Puerto Plata, but my friends who went had actually suggested we go to Punta Cana, which they had heard was the 'nicer' side.

I loved Punta Cana... but it depends on which resort you stay at. I stayed at the Sunscape and had a fantastic time, my BIL stayed at Breezes and he said it *****.... so if you get a nice place then you are golden!
