Hi! im trying to decide on my honeymoon right now its narrowed down to costa rica or punta cana...
can anyone tell me about punta cana? is there more to do then just sit by the pool or beach? I like a little night life, shopping, eating. drinking, and excursions during the day...is punta cana good for all of these???

Me and the FH just came back from Punta Cana and it was nice. There really is not much to do there. I mean we didnt leave the resort, because the rest of the country is not nice. It is REALLY hot there. We stayed at Dreams, it was nice, but I would look into going some where else.

you can leave the resort, but for the excursions. punta cana isnt in a town, the nearest town is about 30 minutes away its called Higuey....punta Cana is just basically beach resorts along the coastline...its safe to go outside the resorts for the excursions....the nightlife is within the resort that you stay in, i highly recommend the majestic conial reosrt (pics in my album), gran bahia principe, excellence (but its farther from the aiport then the others, around 1 hour, the others are like 30 minutes), punta cana princess resort is also nice....go on cheapcaribbean.com and tripadvisor.com...its a beautiful conutry! youll enjoy it!

My friend got married at punta cana two years ago. She stayed at secrets and loved it. I stayed at sunscape. It was the end of october so it was so empty!!! That was good for the daytime not a million of people of running around but the nightlife kind of ******. I honestly Would NOt leave your compound on your own. I did do one excursion which was horseback riding on the beach. that was nice. Honestly all we did was sit on the beach go in the pool and drink.

im going to the DR for our HM but we are going to Puerta Plata...It is a more northern area of the island and although outwside the resort isnt safe my travel agent says there are more excursions there then punta cana!!! FM me for info!!!!
