I've been there three times and have always stayed at the Paradisus Punta Cana. We love it. Food is great, beaches amazing, great night life and lots of excursions. You can def go off the property, we walk miles down the beach, there is a night club and casino just outside our hotel that we go to after the one on our resort closes. Just use common sense like going anywhere else and be cautious. It is a very beautiful island.
My FH says that it is safe...just be aware of your surroundings and make sure you know where you are going- He travels to DR several times a year (part of his business is located there). He did say that if you are going to and from the hotel at night to take a cab that is affiliated with the hotel.
I went to Punta Cana 2 years ago. I stayed at Occidental Allergo. Its very safe just dont leave the resort lol
I have not been to that specific hotel but I have been to Punta Cana. It is beautiful!!!!!!!!
I love Punta Cana.. I have been there twice. The most recent place was Melia Caribe which did not have great service but everything else was AMAZING.... beach, food and fun
i cannot comment on that resort but I've been to a lot of resorts in punta cana. Like others have said, you can walk up and down the beach walk....its great exercise and they have the little flea market/shops. You can do the excursions the the resort offers or on the beach and some of the resorts have nightlife....as you may be aware of thar some resorts are livelier than others. If you decide to leave the resort, take a hotel cab from the lobby to your destination and back. if you can, you can get the cab drivers information for a return pick up. My reccommendation is do not go strolling down those streets outside of the resort on your own...like any other island in the caribbean has tourist prowlers out there... so be careful!

I've stayed at Majestic Elegance in January. The hotel opened in October '08. When I was there they were still working on the place. The electricity went out a few times, the food was okay and the maids leave the doors open when they clean the rooms so when you come back there's mosquitos in your room.
By the time you go I'm sure they will have everything done. I personally didn't like the food there, but if you go next door to the Majestic Colonial(which has been opened a little longer)you'll see what I'm talking about. Actually if you stay with the Steakhouse and Hibachi, you should be fine. I didn't like the Italian restaurant.
DEFINITELY get a Majestic Elegance drink with Rum!!!! OMG DELISHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! The grounds are beautiful. I didn't leave but there are excursions you can do, Quadding, boating etc. It was my 1st time in Punta Cana and overall I had a good time. The night club opens at 11 and the casino opens at 4pm I believe. ENJOYYYYY!!!!!! I can post pics if you want.

We really enjoyed Punta Cana but didn't leave our resort (didn't feel we needed to - it was all inclusive) - the one thing I recommend to anyone going there is to bring stomach stuff and Immodium AD. I know - they say all the resorts have their own flitration blah blah blah - I stayed ina beautiful place and still had major issues - my friends went last month and she had the same thing. Some of us just have sensitive stomachs so go prepared so you candeal with it if it comes up.
Thats were we are going except we are staying at the Majestic Colonial. We plan on going zip lining and horseback riding but that's about it.
