He was so good the first two weeks...he would always go on the pad. But since I've gone back to work he's been in his crate all day ( I come home for lunch) and he keeps going everywhere but the wee wee pad. He'll actually stand on the pad forever and won't go. So I think that he doesn't have to go and as soon as he leaves the pad he pees or poops. He is so small that by the time I pick him up he's already finished. I don't know why he's regressing. Can someone help?

He's probably mad at you for not being home all day to play with him. He might be lonely and need a companion.

Re: Puppy is going to the bathroom everywhere!!!
when you were home with him these past two weeks, did you practice keeping him in the crate for short periods of time, just to get him used to being in there and not with you? If not, that might explain the sudden change in behavior. Golem was confused too when we were both back to work after we brought him home, but even with us leaving him in his crate for long periods of time to simulate us not being there - he still went in the crate for what seemed like the longest time!!! It's only been recently (early last month) where he stopped going in the crate during the day while we're gone. Your puppy might just need to learn how to control his bladder to fit your schedule. If he wasn't in the crate during the day at all for two weeks and now he's in there all day, that's a big adjustment to make overnight. Also, with the wee wee pads, are you giving him lots of praise and treats wehn he goes on it? It takes them a while to realize that's a good thing, so keep it up if you're already doing that I had no idea how much work puppies really were until we brought home litte Golem - now I'm convinced that a real baby might have been easier first! It's so rewarding though when they look at you with those adoring puppy eyes good luck with your little one!

I was practicing leaving him in the crate for the whole week and I would actually leave him in the room by himself for about two hours at a time to get him used to it and I also give him little pieces of treats when he uses the wee wee pads. He's very inconsistent...sometimes he's goes by himself on the pad and sometimes he doesn't. yesterday I left him alone for thirty seconds on the couch so I could get his medicine and I came back and he peed on the couch I was so pissed becaused he didn't even bark or anything to let me know that he had to go. I just thought having a puppy is all fun and games but it's so much work!

he's still really young - the inconsistency is normal, even though it's just so frustrating at times!!!!
When Golem was a baby I used to get so mad when he would pee inside, and now I feel bad bc he just didn't know any better yet. Being a puppy parent is not always fun and games - it's work work and more work!! And the hardest part of it is, there's NOTHING that can prepere you for what puppy-parenthood will bring. I'm convinced that raising our puppy is the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my entire life - but it's also the most rewarding! Good luck - and try to be paitent with your little guy!

Thanks! I'm trying...it's so hard to be mad at him because he looks up at you with that cute little face and usually a pine needle is stuck to his nose and I have to laugh. He's like my baby

Re: Puppy is going to the bathroom everywhere!!!
I have a question sort of similar to this situation....
When we bought my puppy she had a parasite which prevented her from being allowed outside. Since then she has recovered and has been neutered. We have had her for about 4 months now and we want to train her to go outside. But it seems like no matter what we do she will not go. She only goes on wee wee pads.
I have taken soiled wee wee pads for the scent outside with us...nothing...I'm at a loss!! Any help is appreciated!!!
