Re: Puppy!!
Aww congrats!! I can't wait to see her!
I've crate trained my two dogs and I have to say it's worked great. After she eats, put her in the crate for a few minutes and then take her out for a walk. If she doesn't go, put her back in the crate and take her out again in another 10-15 minutes. Keep doing this until she goes then give her a treat and lots of praise. I know I feel bad putting them in the crate, but my dogs actually love it. I catch them in there all the time with the door open!

I don't remember the cut-off age but you have to be careful about taking her outside before she has all her shots, 8 weeks is very young, I wanna say we were told to wait until 12 weeks with ours.
CONGRATS new puppies are the best!!! If it gets hard to handle don't freak out lol I went through some stressful times with our puppies but they are so the greatest!!

Re: Puppy!!
first off, congrats!
crate train her! she won't want to pee in her own territory. everytime you take her out of the crate, don't even let her paws touch the ground--take her out ASAP. give her a reward as soon as she goes.
my dog was housebroken in less than a month, and he didn't poop in my house once. i feel like i got lucky though with that one :).

awww zamboni! lol your gusy are so cute
hmm my dog is a spoiled brat but what kinda helped was spraying windex (or the peepee scent spray) on his wee wee pad..... windex works also because i think they said it has omonia in it orsomething like that which makes dogs want to cover up there scent with their own, but we mostly used the peepee spray which smells like a$$

Re: Puppy!!
here is my honest advice....
dont do the wee wee pad. you will then have to train them twice,
after a meal or drink or whatnot take her to the door. Put a bell on it. Make her ring the bell, then take her outside. keep her outside until she goes.
When inside give a treat. .
Do this every three or so hours.
Its really time consuming on your part but trust me it works and saves you the trouble of training her twice.
Put her on YOUR scheudle.

Re: Puppy!!
Don't keep her cooped up in a crate all day except at night. Keep her in her crate next to you when you go to bed. Even if she cries a little let her. When she wines or barks, that means she has to go. She will have to go like every 4-5 hours the first few months. It's like having a baby. I would take her outside each time to show her that's where she has to go. You can also use wee-wee pads and bring her each time to the pad and say something like go potty. When she does go make a huge deal, clap whatever. She will have accidents though, but try not to yell. During the day, or when you're not home, keep her confined to a small area, put a baby gate up or buy a puppy play pen and put down a wee-wee pads, toys etc. Eventually she will give you signs like sitting at the door, scratching which means she has to go.

Re: Puppy!!
Also don't put pads in the crate bc she will think she can go to the bathroom in the crate.
