putting fine china in the dishwasher

ours says its dishwasher safe but we still handwashed it.... we're afraid the design will eventually wear off or that it will chip. what do you do?

Ours says its dishwasher safe. My mom said not to use the hard soap tablets though, because they might scratch. She said to use gel or liquid soap.

with Fine China I wouldn't take the chance in the dishwasher, I haven't yet but I will handwash mine

ours isnt dishwasher safe which gives us incentive to hand wash them- i would be too nervous to wash china even if it was dishwasher safe that is just me though

If it has any type of gold or platinum trim on the edges, that will eventually wear away if you put the china in the dishwasher frequently.
Also, never scrape the leftover food off the dish with a knife - you will scratch the edges. Use a papertowel instead.

Use the china setting (it's gentler, not as hot) select the air dry function (you will have to dry by hand), use liquid or gel, and it should be fine.
Don't crowd the dishwasher.

I've been doing that with my mom's for a long time. We only used the good stuff about 4 times a year.

If you have any doubts, run one plate thru because you can always replace it.

Never put silver in with stainless steel. The silver will ruing.
Crystal should always be washed by hand The dishwasher can cloud the crystal permanently.
