putting MOH in her place

putting MOH in her place

Anyone have to do it?

My MOH is great, she is great at organizing, she gets things done, and she knows how to be a MOH....she's just really blunt, and a little rude. Sometimes I feel like it should be HER way for some things. For example, flowers, she was saying to the florist, 'woah, those bouquets are way to small, they need to be bigger, double them'. And then when the $5600 bill comes, she says 'Oh, that's good!'. I almost died.

Also, her and my mom have been butting heads apparently, and she said 'I can't tell you how many times I have to remind your mom that it's your wedding'. Well, I know they are both very strong-willed people but how do I tell her that she's still my mother?

She has been so good for other things, just sometimes she crosses that line.....what would/have you done?

Why is she coming with you to appts. if she bothers you this much? Just dont bring her and go with FH. She seems to mean well, but if you dont want the input, dont bring her

I would stop bringing her along with you when you have to make any big $$ decisions!! Or just tell her, that's great - are you going to buy it all for me, when the price doubles! lol

I'm sure she's thinking of having everything perfect for you, but it is YOUR wedding and you have to do things that work for you.

As or your mom... just tell your MOH that she has to respect your mom and not get bent outa shape when she recommends something... I think your mom will know you a bit better then your MOH.

Good luck and sorry you have to deal with this

I brought her to 2 florists and that's it, no more!

Re: putting MOH in her place

I would stop bring her with me. My mom did this with me in the beginning with dresses. We would go to a shop and the woman would ask what I was looking for and my mom would start speaking! I explained to my mom that I am getting married so when they askthe type of dress that I am looking for I would like to answer. She never did it again.
If u really want your moh to go with you to look at vendor, make sure you tell her what you want and when it comes time to talking to the vendors, make sure she knows you are very capable of expressing what you want.

As for your mom, make sure that your moh understands that she is just trying to help you and if your mom isn't bothering you with her suggestions then it shouldn't bother your moh.

WOW! sounds like it's time for you to have a 'chat' with your MOH! That's out of line.

Definately just stop bringing her with you. At least your MOH means well. Mine could've cared less about my wedding. She was anti-EVERYTHING; didn't want to plan a shower, didn't want to plan a bacholerette party, didn't order her dress on time, etc. I didn't have the guts to put her in her place, but I know if the roles had been reversed, she would've been up my butt about it. Luckily she backed out. Just feel lucky that you have a MOH that actually cares, even though she doesn't always show it in the right way

This is one reason I am having a tough time picking someone. The friend I really want toa sk is really pushy but the one I know won't drive me crazy is lazy and just doesnt get what needs to be done to help out. good luck, I think you should stop bringing her with you

I really think that it isnt the place of a MOH to know how much you and your family spend on vendors. I am sure she offers wonderful suggestions but unless she is paying, she shouldnt have input. JMO

i agree with the majority here, don't let her spend your money. plain and simple. let her focus on planning the shower or give her a job to do, like looking for invites or a dj. you don't have to go with what she picks, but let her feel important.

I assume she is a good friend since you picked her as you MOH...but if she is rude and blunt toward your MOM!!!!!! I'd sit her down and remind her that although her input is important to you, it's your wedding and she needs to respect your opinions and decision ---- and especially those of your mom even if you and your mom do not agree.

Ummm...it's great that she wants to help so much but unless she's flipping the bill for the upgrades she requests then she should tone it down a little...especially with your mom.
