Putting up a wall?

Putting up a wall?

How much would you think putting up or taking down a wall would be? Let's say it's a bedroom wall, so on regular ceiling height and maybe 15 ft wide?
Or, how can I find out?
Thanks!

Call a contractor. Have him come over... inspect the area... and he will give you a price.

as far as taking down a wall, that easy but you need to make sure its not a supporting wall.
you can put up a wall anywhere you want but takes more time

My friend had a pretty good wall put up in her apartment in NYC to make a 2nd bedroom and it cost $1000.

Thanks guys!
I don't actually have a wall YET that needs to be put up/taken down.
Most of the houses we've seen have small bedrooms and my first reaction to make a 'master bedroom' is, we can take down this wall. My DH thinks I'm crazy & asked if I knew what went into that and how much it cost? I know people do this in the city all the time, and it couldn't have been outrageous!!!!
Just trying to do some research

Putting up a wall with no electric to tie into is absolutely simple. An hour or so plus sheetrock. Removal though is a totally different ball of wax. You cannot totally remove load bearing walls (ones where the ceiling joists sit on them) without building a temporary wall first and then headering off the old wall. Not too complicated but a mess. Call a professional for removal but build one yourself!!
