My sister is used to myself and my FH always having our camera with us and every time we get together, she always wants pictures of herself. She's a very... 'vain' person. To put it nicely.
I don't particularly want a lot of pictures of her after the ceremony, but I do want tons of pictures of her kids.
I know she's going to tell the photographer to take a picture of her and her own family, possibly more than one or two shots.
I'm making up a checklist of portraits for my photographer and I was thinking maybe I should just throw it in there to jump the gun. Tell her to restrict that particular shot to 1 or 2.
Is it customary to have pictures of siblings with their own family but without the bride or groom in them?

Re: Q about group shots after ceremony
No it's not customary for the guests to get family portraits taken at someone else's wedding. I've seen this subject on the boards before and the general consensus has always been to tell the photographer in advance that he/she might get hit up for that and to say no.

Funny, it's something I never considered before. I guess at this point, there are no unoriginal questions on these boards!
As of my current count, I have 25 different combinations of people. Do you think that's too much?

I plan on letting my photographer know that we have some 'photo happy' people in our families. I don't mind a few shots, but I don't want them taking up all the time the photographer has that I'm paying boocoo bucks to either. I'll let them know and they'll use their discretion.

Re: Q about group shots after ceremony
My boss knew her SIL would asked her photographer to take a bunch of photos of her and her family.
She instructed her photographer of the situation (which they are used to!!!). SIL was told by photographer to consult the bride for special requests.
Needless to say boss did not want SIL to monopolize her photographer and use his time and take photos of them. Boss was paying for photos of her wedding not her SIL.

Re: Q about group shots after ceremony
Interesting. Our photographer took family shots of both of our families. Dhs is much bigger than mine and did shots of all the couples, and then one had kids with them so yes, they did a family shot. It honestly didn't bother me at all and took very little time. if you don't want that, I would mention it ahead of time, yes!
