Q Flower Girl Dresses...

I am alittle upset about (but trying not to be bridezilla and not let it bother me but I am upset) Last month before FH and I went to Disney on vacation I talked to my flower girls mother regarding there dresses and we agreed we would go together to look for dresses for the girls... well guess what she went without me and bought 2 dresses ... see attached pics... I am not a huge fan ~ I have only seen them via email -- so I am not sure what it looks like in person ~ I just can't beleive she went with out me when I specifically asked her if we could go together! Let me know what you think...

(this is the closest thing I could find that was similar ~ this is not the exact dress but similar to the dress the FG's mom sent via e-mail)

PS Thanks for listening to me vent ~ I have been thinking about this for a couple of days...
PSS I am also worried because I am wearing Ivory (I was told this dress is ivory ~ Ivory's can be funny sometimes tooo ivory or too white... )

I'd be upset too! I guess she figured since she's paying, she gets to pick them or somethng, but it would have been nice to atleast get your input first!

Thank you for your post! It is going to look foolish if the color is off... I dont want anyone making me look yellow (my wedding dress is ivory & champagne) I actually wanted my flower girls in a color... (aqua not ivory)

Re: Q Flower Girl Dresses...

yea I totally agree... we didn't have to worry bout that problem since we were paying for the FG dresses ourselves...FGs aren't really a custom where FH is from so he felt weird askign the FGs parents to pay for a dress..just liek he won't ask them to come early for rehearsal grr

You need to talk to the FG's parents, I personally think it's rather rude to purchase a dress without the Bride's approval!

Good Luck!

Date Twin,
You are not being a bridezilla!!! I can't believe this woman would buy dresses for FGs without showing it to you first!!!!!!!
Can you talk to the mom about the fact that you didn't like the dresses? The longer you wait to talk to her , the less likely it will be to get the deposit back if necessary!
And Christine, whether you're paying for it or not is not an issue....She had no right to pick this dress without you!

Re: Q Flower Girl Dresses...

Thanks to you ladies ~ I did it I emailed the FG's mom... What do you think ~ sounds ok? I hope so I already sent it...

Hi C,

I will try to give you a call in a little bit! I don't know how to say this but I like the girls dresses that you bought but I am not in love with them and when I was thinking about the flower girls I was thinking more on the line of this kind of dress...

If you are set on the dress you already purchased and it matches the ivory that is fine but if you are on the fence about it I was wondering if we could keep looking... My wedding colors are brown and tiffany blue... I wanted to either have the girls in ivory with a sash in the brown or the tiffany blue. (or possibly a tiffany blue dress with an ivory/brown sash)

What do you think? I hope you are not offended or mad? I really thought we could go together & thought it would be fun.... I will try to give you a call in a bit....or today/tonight!

Love ya bunches,
xoxo

Thank you all for your SUPPORT I really appreciate it ~ I am the type to just let it slide... so I dont cause any issues or confrontation....

Re: Q Flower Girl Dresses...

dude, i wouldn't be as much upset as I would be pissed!
I would talk to her and ask her WHY she felt the neeed to pick out YOUR fg dress for YOUR wedding!
I mean personslly, ithink the white one is nice, but I'm sure you can find alot of others. and I wouldn't use it even if she picked it out and even if it was nice! [im stubborn!] lol
i would seriously have a nice chat w/ her and tell her you are picking out the dresses and she had no right to go and do this without consilting you. you come out, very BLUNTLY and say that this is YOUR wedding!

i had just about the same issue w/ my dh's sister. i had 2 fgs and 2 rb's, 1 fg and 1 rb was on my side of the family, the other fg and rb were on dh's side. so now, Dh's sister, her 2 kids were fg and rb's. sooooooooo i tell her the dress i picked out for both my Fg's and told her how much it costed [it was inexpnesive, like $120 i think] and told her the RB are to wear the same thing as the GM. the fg dresses were pick up, like my dress and thats what i wanted for MY wedding!!!......well she kept complaining about the $ [yet she's well off!] and she didn't want to spend that much money, nor did she want to have the same suit for the Rb, she said she'll find something similar. . . . ok, yeah so turns out, I basically came right out and had a huge fight w/ her, telling her if she didn't buy the dresses I picked out, and MATCHED the other Rb and FG, that her kids weren't gunna be in any pix, and its just not right. she was trying to rule her way through my wedding, pick this and that out, the FG gifts and the Rb gifts, untilI snapped and came out and said that this was MY wedding not HERS! [this was a huge thing!!!!!] henceforth, to make a long story short, she got the tux for the RB, like all the guys did, so he matched the Gm and the other RB, but she lied and said she got the same dress for her daughter, [fg] and meanwyile, the day of the wedding, i see her daughter in a pick-up dress but not the same one as my little cousin's was in! ! ! I let it go, b/c it was the day of my wedding but it pissed me off to no end! The kids weren't in that many px anyway, but still...
sorry, i had to vent! dh's sister gets on my nerves
!!!!!!!

but this is YOUR wedding and you tell her what you want for YOUR wedding!

I didn't know you were interested in other colors, I thought we discussed ivory in the traditonal flower girl way- but I would appreciate you looking at them in person first and then we could go from there

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I guess we will see from here what happens!
