QOTD 07.03

Every little girl dreams about her wedding day, except for me. No one in my family ever did big wedding they just went down to city hall and celebrated it over dinner with family. So I always thought that would be the route me and FH would take he didn't seem like someone who would be into big weddings. Boy was I wrong, his father used to be a wedding videographer so my FH has gone to 100s of weddings. His family is into big weddings as well. So my wedding is turning out to be bigger and better than I ever imagined. I am grateful for my FH to push me into having a big wedding. It will be my one day to feel like a princess! LOL

Question: Is your wedding turning out to be like you always imagined?

This is a really tough question for me...this is my 2nd wedding. My first wedding I didn't feel like a princess at all!! My parents and in laws took over, things were very cookie cutter by the book,no personalization,It felt very 'by the book' if that makes sense. The big dress, that didn't make me feel anymore like a princess.
This time I am doing things SO different. My FH has never been married, I am so in love, I handpicked EVERYTHING this time...and we are really putting a lot of love and heart in this. We wanted a restaurant wedding but it wasn't fair to a lot of people so we decided to make it a bigger affair then planned but we are so in love with all our planning, I feel this time around I will feel like that princess I wanted to be(without the big dress lol)

I believe that my wedding isn't completely what I imagined from before, but it is an event I imagine myself enjoying :). I initially wanted an outside wedding, maybe in a barn or just an outdoor space. But, logistics got me thinking and it wasn't feasible.

I think that when I thought about my wedding before I met my FH, I thought about things in terms of who I was going to marry. And now that I am closer to my wedding, it is a different picture because of my FH and our style. I guess I'm someone who thinks of other people too much and I think about how an event correlates with the group of people that will be attending.

I'm not sure what I am trying to say lol.

Lol. I understand what you are trying to say. I knew I always wanted a small wedding. Very intimate and surrounded by close family and friends. In the beginning of the planning process I was seeing my vision slowly slip because it was starting to turn into something that others wanted. It took a big toll on my FH and I. I started trying to please everyone and was taking away what I had originally wanted and was getting lost in the whole process. I had to take a step back and for the first time put what I wanted first and I knew I did not want to have any resentment afterwards because I was trying to please everyone else rather than the two that were exchanging their vows. Instead of accommodating other people, I started to accommodate the soon-to-be bride and groom. Definitely cut back on the guest lists, started incorporating our own touches to make it more personable and fun. And 6 more months to go FH and I are very pleased with how things are coming along.
