I'm at work and I can't wait for this day to end so that FH and I can enjoy the day off tomorrow. My QOTD is:
a) What are FH and your plans for the 4th of July? b) Have you and FH worked out a system for spending time with both your families during the holidays?
a) FH and I will be spending July 4th with his mom and grandma; they will BBQ if the weather cooperates. b) Since my family currently doesn’t live in the U.S., right now we spend most holidays with FHs family. However, my family is planning to move to NY in a few years, and then things might get tricky, since both FHs family and mine love cooking and hosting holiday dinners. We might have to visit both our parent’s houses, having dinner at one and coffee/ dessert at the other.

A) FH and I will be going to my sister's annual 4th of July party.
B) When we first started dating my parents still lived in NY & we were speaking to my father so we would rotate holidays between 3 families. Now my parents live in FL and my dad & his family we don't speak to so we generally spend most of the holiday's with FH's family. There are occasions that my cousins will host a holiday so we may mix it up and go there but generally FH's family, which I don't mind. I always have a good time with them.

1. My FHs absolute favorite Holiday is July 4th, I've always had a big BBQ party so when we started dating it was a great fit to Combine our BBQs and both our family's celebrate with us. What's even better is this year we will be celebrating our 1 Year out!! Since 4th of July next year is our Wedding!! ahh
2. We always alternate holidays between our Families and it has worked out great. Our families live pretty close by so we take turns doing dinner at one family, and dessert at the other's, then flip it for the next holiday. As we create our own family and get a home I hope to host a few and this way both our families can get all together! (I guess I will need a BIG dining room lol)

a) FH and I don't have any definite plans. It's all depending on the weather - maybe the beach if the weather is nice or go to a BBQ!
b)Ohh the question that has caused so much tension between my family and his. My parents always invite us to whatever they are doing for the holidays- his parents never have plans until the very absolute last second and don't invite us until a few hours before. Most of the time they end up sitting home not doing anything so we tell my parents we'll go to them. Then FH's parents get mad that we go there and they give my FH so much grief. We will go to their house if they ask us but most of the time we're a second thought and we don't like waiting a few hours before things to be invited. Holidays are never going to be easy

a) No plans for us this year. I really am not a big fan of 4th of July because I hate loud noises and fire so fireworks totally freak me out LOL
b) Holidays for us are fairly easy because we're not the same religion and FH's family doesn't really do anything for holidays anyway. We usually spend them with my family or as a family unit just the two of us and maybe some friends.

We are just going to hang out by my aunts for a BBQ. we both have work the next day, so nothing crazy.
as for splitting holidays we pretty much have the major holidays figured out. the smaller 'BBQ' holidays we just go with who ever makes the plans first.

a) FH and I are going to watch the macy's fireworks at a friends apartment that has a view.
b)We have big familys and are close to each so we time share. We usually split the holidays so Thanksgiving we went to his mom. Christmas eve is a big deal in my Italian house hold so we were at my parents. We unfortunatelty did not spend Christmas together as we couldn't come up with an arrangement that worked but already agreed this year we are time sharing the day morning with one dinner with the other. Until we get our own house then everyone is coming to me I am done traveling all over lol.

1.) Initially we were planning a road trip to Maine, but since I couldn't get the Fri off, we decided to just stay locally. Tomorrow we are planning a day trip to Fire Island. I have work Fri but he's off. Sat, we plan to spend with his parents. Sunday, I'm flying out to CA for a week for work. 2.) Since my family is in CA and with wedding planning, I won't be able to visit much for holidays this year. We are going there in Dec for my brother's wedding.

We're going to his friend's house for a BBQ. Very laid back. I don't have much family that's close, so we don't worry about splitting holiday time. He has kids from his first marriage, and we split holidays with his ex wife. My family? Nothing to worry about.
a) I'm hoping it's a nice day tomorrow, because my plan is to just sit by the pool with some beers all afternoon, BBQ for dinner, and catch some fireworks somewhere. We NEVER get to just sit at home and do nothing, so I REALLY hope it doesn't rain! b) We try to alternate the holidays. Last year, we did Thanksgiving with my family and the day after with his, Christmas Eve at my parents', Christmas Day at his, and so on. For holidays you really only get one day for, like Mother's Day and Easter, we spent the morning with one family and the afternoon/evening with the other family.

Beers by the pool, BBQ and fireworks sounds perfect! I know what you mean about not having any time to just stay at home and relax, especially since the wedding planning has begun. So looking forward to this weekend, for once we have nothing planned! Fingers crossed that the weather doesn't act up!

For the fourth fh and I will probably just hang out at my house and then go to his and go to sleep early. We leave for Hawaii really early on friday. We alternate holidays. Seems to work.

We like to keep the 4th of July pretty low key. This year it's just my mom, sister and my sisters bf coming over. We'll hang poolside most of the day, I'm doing a lobster bake and then we'll bring the fire pit to the driveway and our neighbors usually come over and hang out and hopefully someone near us does fireworks!
As for the holidays, we do all of them. I know for sure I would never be able to split them so we took them on, each and every one of them.

FH is working for the holiday, so I'm going to just enjoy the day off--wash the dog and cat, catch up on some chores, etc. I am more afraid of the fireworks than our pets are, so I'll be hiding in the house all evening, probably watching a marathon of Arrested Development on netflix lol.
FH's family is spread out in TX, MO, and IA. So, we spend all the holidays with my family.

Love Arrested Development! FH and I watched it on Netflix the week it was released lol.
We'll be at my moms in the AM for breakfast ... and then we're hanging with his friends family for their annual 4th BBQ. Nothing too insane because I have to be at my office at like 645 am on friday.
As far as the holidays go: Right now as a CHILDLESS couple... we're split the holidays pretty easily. We did x-mas morning with his family and then xmas dinner with mine. Nice and simple.
Once we have kids... I'm sure all hell will break loose and it will be sh*tshow.

We are going to FH's friends house for some celebrating. I have it in my head that I'll stay on my food plan, and that we will go to the gym, but who knows.
Both sides of the family invited us, but this is one holiday where we DON'T have to get stressed over where to go.
Edited because I misunderstood the second part of the question. This always seems to be an issue on major holidays. It's a little difficult to determine where we will go, but we kind of wind up winging it. I hope it gets easier, but seems like as we have kids it will just get more difficult!

This year we will be hanging in the sun at random BBQs! His family isn't american so the 4th isn't a big deal for them and mine is small so they get together if they can. I LOVE the 4th because it's summer, it's hot, it's a day off from the work week and hello it's the big day for the USA :)
Holidays are all set because our families traditions are so different. FHs family does Christmas Eve and my family does Christmas Day. His family isn't really big on any other holiday, Thanksgiving is another american holiday and I LOVE thanksgiving and go wherever there's a feast. Easter is my sides other big holiday other than Christmas Day. We go out east to visit our cousins every year and I would never compromise that. When we get married I'm hoping I can take over Thanksgiving one day

Haha our situations are so similar! My family isn't American too, so I guess Halloween and Thanksgiving would not be a problem. Both FH and I are Catholic though, so unless I learn to become a gourmand chef and host holiday dinners, we will have to figure out a system for the other holidays.

I haven't thought about it at all, but when I had to attend functions for different sides of the fam on a holiday, we attended Lunch at one place & Dinner at another. Or do what my FW's huge fam does, get each family unit to pick a different holiday and then invite everyyyyone n' their mother to the event!
